IF Jason Rogers was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis as Pittsburgh expanded its active roster to 30 players. He was hitting .263 with 40 RBIs in 105 games with Indianapolis. In 10 games earlier this season with the Pirates, Rogers (acquired from the Brewers for prospects Keon Broxton and Trey Supak in December) was 1-for-14.

The Pittsburgh Pirates recalled RHP Jameson Taillon, infielder Adam Frazier and LHP Steven Brault from Bristol and infielder Jason Rogers from Indianapolis on Friday.In addition, catcher Chris Stewart has been recalled from a rehab assignment and reinstated from the 15-day disabled list. Stewart has been sidelined since July 2 because of discomfort in his left knee.The Pirates increased their active roster to 30 players.

"We felt this would best serve us in the short term, and we'll see how it plays out." The Pirates faced Arizona LHP Patrick Corbin on Monday and are scheduled to see will see lefties in two of the next three games. Rogers was among the last spring training cuts after hitting .255 with two doubles and four RBIs in 51 at-bats. "There's frustration, there's going to be frustration, but you have to deal with it," Rogers said. "Get past it. It's life. It's baseball. It's how things go. I'm happy to be here." Rogers arrived in Phoenix about noon after flying in Monday morning. Rogers played first and third in Indianapolis, but both he and manager Clint Hurdle said they feel more secure with him at first. "First base I'm comfortable, third base I'm still working on," Rogers said.

Rogers got to bat cleanup Thursday against the Cardinals, and he responded by going 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run.

Rogers hadn't started since Sunday -- another game in which he hit cleanup and played left field. The 27-year-old has seen most of his time at first base this year, and these last two games have been his first outfield exposure in the big leagues. Despite the nice game, his fantasy upside remains low.

Rogers went 4-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored in Sunday's loss to the Pirates.

All of Rogers' hits were base hits. Rogers has shown solid contact skills in both the majors and at Triple-A this season, but his limited impact in the power department will likely prevent him from ever holding down a full-time starting role in the big leagues.

Rogers was recalled from Triple-A Colorado Springs on Friday.

Rogers continued to rake at Triple-A Colorado Springs following his demotion (.344/.449/.607 batting line in 33 games), and has earned a spot back with the big league roster as a result. He'll likely serve in a reserve role at the corners, but could see a fair number of starts at third base.

Rogers started his season in the minors but has been with the Brewers since mid-April, posting a .236/.284/.360 slash line in 89 at-bats. With Adam Lind often staying in the lineup against southpaws recently, Rogers has just 34 at-bats since the beginning of June.

Getting a start at first base, Rogers made the most of his opportunity, going 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI.

The blast was Rogers' second of the season in 71 at bats. The first baseman has made three starts in the Brewers' eight games this month. Rogers is hitting .268 to go with his two long balls this season.

Rogers will start at first base Monday for the second straight day.

Rogers will again get the start in place of Adam Lind, who is nursing a sore back. While the right-handed Rogers may be an enticing option against left-hander Jaime Garcia, fantasy players should be aware that Rogers is just 6-for-32 (.188) against southpaws this season.

Rogers is 8-for-26 (.308) with a home run and three RBI in 16 games with the Brewers this season.

Rogers has held his own at the big league level this season, and he now has a home run on record after socking his first career long ball in a pinch-hit at-bat Saturday. Rogers has started just three games this season, but expect him to continue seeing ample opportunities to pinch hit.

Rogers is in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Reds.

Rogers will get his first start of the season Tuesday in place of Aramis Ramirez. He will play third base and hit sixth against Reds starter Jason Marquis.

While mostly a first and third basemen, the 27-year-old Rogers can also play the corner outfield spots in a pinch, and his bat should be useful off the bench. He may even get semi-regular playing time against left-handed pitching, as Adam Lind won't typically start against southpaws. Rogers took his time moving up the minor-league ladder, but he's crushing Triple-A pitching for a second straight season.

Rogers is 8-for-20 (.400) with two home runs, six RBI, and seven runs scored through five games with Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Rogers put up big numbers in the PCL last season -- 11 home runs and a .947 OPS in 57 games -- and he is doing the same thing early this season. Granted, Rogers will play this season in one the most hitter-friendly locations, but he will be among the top options should the Brewers need to call up a hitter from the minors.

Rogers and Matt Clark were optioned to Triple-A Colorado Springs on Tuesday, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

The Brewers apparently aren't too concerned with depth at the corner infield spots, as catcher Jonathan Lucroy is also a capable first baseman. Of course, an injury to any one of a few different players could change that situation, so Rogers might still get a shot in the major leagues before the All-Star break.
