J.B. Long of Bright House Sports Network passed along a report by Tim Kurkjian of ESPN.com that the Rays have filed an injury petition and are attempting to add Willy Aybar to the ALDS roster. | ||||||
Interesting. The early speculation is that Aybar would replace Rocco Baldelli on the ALDS roster, but we probably won't know anything until the clubhouse opens. Stay tuned. | ||||||

He led off the top of the ninth inning with a solo blast to right-center field off right-hander Jesus Colome. Aybar started as the designated hitter against the lefty Jason Vargas on Saturday, but the newly-added Hank Blalock figures to see most of the playing time against right-handers going forward. | ||||||
