C Geovany Soto will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow and is expected to miss a minimum of three months, the club announced. Soto will have surgery Tuesday to remove loose bodies in his right elbow, which landed him on the disabled list twice this season. The 34-year-old, who was transferred to the 60-day disabled list on Monday, is batting .190 with three homers and nine RBIs in 13 games after signing a one-year deal with Chicago in the offseason.

Indians prospect Giovanni Soto was hammered by the Reds in his spring debut on Friday, allowing five runs on three hits and a pair of walks in only 2/3 of an inning.
The 21-year-old lefty was acquired by the Tribe in July of 2010 when Jhonny Peralta was dealt to the Tigers. He posted a 3.93 ERA and 1.32 WHIP over 22 starts at Double-A Akron in 2012, while fanning 100 in 121 1/3 innings. He has an electric arm, but is still very raw and has to improve his command before he's a candidate to join the big league roster.
