Mets sent LHP Darin Gorski outright to Triple-A Las Vegas.

He's now off the 40-man roster. Gorski had a shot this spring to win a bullpen spot, but he failed to impress with a 7.50 ERA over four outings.

Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said Monday that prospect left-hander Darin Gorski will get a look as a reliever this spring.

Gorski has made 74 of his 90 professional appearances as a starting pitcher, but the Mets want to see what he can do out of the bullpen. The 25-year-old posted a 4.00 ERA with 118 strikeouts over 139 2/3 innings last season in Double-A and held left-handed batters to a .219 batting average. He's unlikely to make the Opening Day roster, but an impressive showing this spring could lead to a call-up down the road.
