Sat Mar 8 201421:02Tyler Cloyd pitches well in start vs. Padres
Tyler Cloyd pitched well in Saturday's Cactus League start against the Padres, allowing just two hits over two scoreless innings.
The 26-year-old right-hander has now tossed three scoreless innings to begin the spring season. He's a longshot to crack the Indians Opening Day rotation and doesn't hold any mixed league value at the moment.

The Indians are attempting to re-sign Tyler Cloyd to a minor league contract.
Cleveland has enjoyed a brief and tumultuous relationship with Cloyd. First, they claimed him off waivers from the Phillies in October. In November, they designated Cloyd for assignment themselves, and earlier this month they non-tendered him. It's too early to say whether the Indians' brass has re-endeared themselves to the Cloyd household. Cloyd posted a 6.56 ERA in 60 1/3 innings with the Phillies in 2013.

Thu Sep 26 201322:57Tyler Cloyd gets lit up by Braves
Tyler Cloyd was torched for seven runs in one-plus innings by the Braves on Thursday.
Cloyd may well have gotten himself knocked from the 40-man roster with his last few performances. He ends the year 2-7 with a 6.37 ERA in 11 starts and one relief appearance. He's a fine Triple-A pitcher, but the stuff just isn't there for him to be of much use to a major league team.

Cloyd had his start moved up to Tuesday after Roy Halladay was scratched due to the flu. Cloyd has been more good than bad over nine starts this year, but Tuesday he got touched for the most runs he's allowed in a single outing this season. Cloyd moved to 2-4 with a 4.56 ERA with the loss.

Tyler Cloyd will take Ethan Martin's spot in the Phillies' rotation.
Martin has struck out over a batter per inning, but he holds a 6.90 ERA and 1.80 WHIP and simply wasn't pitching deep enough into games. Cloyd has put up a 3.57 ERA and 1.50 WHIP across 45 1/3 frames this season. He'll start next week against the Padres.

Thu Jun 6 201323:34Cloyd hurls 6 2/3 scoreless frames vs Brewers
Tyler Cloyd pitched very well in Thursday's victory over the Brewers, allowing four hits and five free passes over 6 2/3 scoreless innings.
He also struck out two on the night. Other than his debacle against the Red Sox at Fenway, Cloyd has now delivered quality starts in four of his first five outings on the season. While the high-strikeout totals he exhibited in the minor leagues have yet to translate, he's worth a look as a streaming option in mixed leagues at this point. He'll look to keep the ball rolling when he takes on the Twins in Minnesota on Wednesday.

Mon May 27 201323:13Tyler Cloyd torched for six runs
Tyler Cloyd was lit up for six runs and nine hits in 2 1/3 innings by the Red Sox on Monday.
Cloyd just doesn't have the stuff to hold down a lineup like Boston's. He'll hang tough against teams like the Marlins and Mets, but he's a weak choice in fantasy leagues.
