Scott Schoeneweis is hoping to make a comeback this season.
Schoeneweis was designated for assignment by the Red Sox in mid-May after posting a 7.90 ERA in 13 2/3 innings, and he never caught on with another team. The 37-year-old lost his wife to a drug overdose in the summer of 2009 and believes that tragedy may have hurt his on-field performance. "My place is more important to be here raising the kids," the lefty told the Boston Globe. "But for me personally, I wasn't quite done. My skills haven't diminished."

Red Sox designated LHP Scott Schoeneweis for assignment.
Schoeneweis had a fairly solid first month with the Red Sox but has fallen apart here in May, allowing eight earned runs in his last four innings. Veteran lefties tend to die slowly, but it's hard to see him getting another shot. The 36-year-old posted a 7.90 ERA in 13 2/3 innings for Boston.
