Sun Feb 13 202215:20Dodgers Sign Stefen Romero To Minor League Deal
The Los Angeles Dodgers signed first baseman/outfielder Stefen Romero to a minor league deal with an invitation to spring training on Saturday, according to a source. Romero smacked 96 home runs in the last five seasons while playing in Japan, including the shortened season in 2020. The 33-year-old could be a designated hitter option for the Dodgers this year, but the fact that spring training will likely be delayed or canceled altogether this year won't help Romero's chances. He has a career slash line of .195/.242/.307 with four home runs and 17 RBI in 94 games (233 plate appearances) over three seasons, all with the Seattle Mariners from 2014-16.

Sat Mar 21 201514:11Romero
Romero, as expected, was optioned to Triple-A on Friday, the Seattle Times reports.
Romero made the roster out of spring training last year, but that was more by default than anything. After the Mariners re-tooled their outfield this offseason, Romero had little chance of landing a roster spot. He needs to improve his plate discipline (four walks in 190 PA last season with the Mariners). He perhaps could get called up if injuries hit.
Mon Sep 1 201417:48Romero recalled by Mariners in Monday
Romero was recalled by the Mariners in Monday.
Opening the season on the big league roster, Romero was limited to 168 at-bats across 60 outings in two separate stints with the Mariners. While he managed to hit only .196/.236/.310 with the big club, he's mashed in the minors, recording 12 homers in 151 at-bats at Triple-A Tacoma. Without an everyday gig to keep up the pace, he may find difficulty producing once again, but owners in very deep formats could reap the benefits of his recent success at the plate.
Fri Aug 1 201417:00Romero optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on Friday
Romero was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on Friday, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports.
Romero was one of two men optioned Friday (the other being James Jones) to make room for newly-acquired Austin Jackson and Chris Denorfia on the roster. Romero has hit a paltry .196 with the club this season anyway, and was out of the lineup for each of the past four games. He will take a spot back with the Triple-A club in hopes of turning things around offensively in preparation for a return to the majors at some point in the future.

Wed Jun 4 201415:43Romero gets two hits out of cleanup spot
Batting in the cleanup spot, Stefen Romero singled and tripled in Wednesday's win over the Braves.
He would have scored a run, as well, but James Jones pinch-ran for him in the eighth after his one-out triple. The nice day brought Romero's season line up to .214/.264/.368. Cole Gillespie also had a pair of base knocks for the Mariners Wednesday.

Sat Apr 12 201401:32Stefen Romero fans four times
Stefen Romero struck out all four times he was up Friday against the A's.
He struck out on changeups from Tommy Milone in each of his first three at-bats. Romero won a spot on Seattle's roster with a big spring, but it'd make more sense to let him play regularly in Triple-A than to keep him in spot duty in the majors. He's 2-for-13 so far.

Wed Mar 26 201414:24Romero stays hot
Stefen Romero had another big game on Tuesday, going 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBI against the Royals.
The home run was Romero's fourth of the spring and second in the last three games. The 25-year-old is batting .296/.321/.648 with three doubles, two triples, four home runs and 13 RBI through 54 at-bats this spring, but has also posted a 13/1 K/BB ratio. Romero saw time in right field and at first base in Sunday's game, indicating that the Mariners are still considering him as a potential bench player to open the season.

Stefen Romero belted a three-run walkoff homer off Evan Scribner on Sunday, leading the Mariners to a 6-4 victory over the Athletics in Cactus League play.
Romero's dramatic blast came as a pinch-hitter. He's hitting .283/.298/.630 in 46 at-bats this spring, but has posted a troublesome 11/1 K/BB ratio. While he could stick as a bench bat for the M's, he may be better suited playing everyday at the Triple-A level.
