RHP Austin Adams was optioned by the Indians to Triple-A Columbus. Adams, 29, yielded two runs in each of his last two relief appearances in back-to-back losses to Minnesota. He did not record a decision but posted a 7.04 ERA in 15 appearances this season.

RHP Austin Adams was recalled from Triple-A Columbus on Thursday. In 24 relief appearances at Columbus, Adams was 2-3 with a 4.18 ERA and six saves. He was up with the Indians earlier this season and in seven appearances had a 2.35 ERA with 12 strikeouts in 7 2/3 innings.

The Cleveland Indians recalled right-hander Austin Adams from Triple-A Columbus on Sunday.Adams, 29, has spent the entire 2016 season with Columbus, posting a record of 2-1 with four saves and a 1.10 ERA over 16 1/3 innings in 14 relief outings. He has not allowed a run over his last 5 1/3 innings (five games). In 2015, Adams had a 2-0 record with a 3.78 ERA and one save over 33 1/3 innings in 28 games.The Indians also optioned left-hander Kyle Crockett to Columbus. In 11 games, he had a 14.73 ERA over 3 2/3 innings In 11 games.

The Indians recalled Adams from Triple-A Columbus on Tuesday.

Adams will replace Scott Atchison in the Indians' bullpen. He gave up two earned runs over two innings in his last appearance with the big club earlier this season, but otherwise threw the ball, giving up just one earned run over the other 9.1 innings he pitched. He figures to work in middle relief.

Adams was optioned to Triple-A Columbus on Thursday, the Northeast Ohio Media Group's Paul Hoynes reports.

Adams has been back and forth between the majors and Triple-A, and while he has a 2.38 ERA in 11.1 innings with the Indians, he only has seven strikeouts over that span. The Indians opted to recall C.C. Lee, who has been missing bats at almost twice the rate of Adams at Triple-A.

Adams struck out one during a perfect 12th inning to earn his first career save Sunday against the Mariners.

Cleveland used closer Cody Allen in the 10th inning of a tie game, so it was Adams who got the call in the 12th to nail down the win. He was essentially the last reliever remaining at that point as the Indians went to the bullpen six times during the extended game, so while the save is nice, Adams should continue to serve merely as a depth option out of the bullpen.

Adams was recalled from Triple-A Columbus on Friday, Paul Hoynes of The Plain Dealer reports.

With Scott Atchison (ankle) headed for the DL, Adams gets the open spot in Cleveland's bullpen, despite struggling in his recent appearances for Triple-A Columbus. There's still some hope the 28-year-old Adams can develop into a late-inning guy, but he figures to work mostly in low and medium-leverage situations for the time being.
