Hoes was optioned to Triple-A Fresno on Friday.

The team needed to create a spot on the roster for trade acquisition Scott Kazmir, and it was Hoes who got the bump. Hoes collected four singles in 14 at-bats during his second stint with the big club this season, and while he figures to be up again no later than Sept. 1, the 25-year-old isn't likely to fill anything more than a reserve role.

Hoes was called up from Triple-A Fresno and is in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros.

Hoes may only stick around for one game, and even if he's with the Astros after the break, it'll likely just be as the fifth outfielder. He'll start in right field and bat seventh Sunday afternoon.

Hoes will come up for the final game of the first half, and he won't necessarily stick around after the All-Star break. He's never had much luck against big-league pitching, but he does own a .327/.400/.461 slash line through 70 games with Triple-A Fresno this season.

Through 67 games for Triple-A Fresno, Hoes is hitting .332/.408/.470 with 20 doubles, three triples, three home runs, 43 RBI and 11 stolen bases over 253 at-bats.

With George Springer (wrist) on the DL, the Astros are currently using four-man outfield rotation of Colby Rasmus, Preston Tucker, Jake Marisnick and Alex Presley. If one of those players were to get injured, Hoes would likely warrant a call-up based on his strong season offensively thus far.

Hoes left Thursday's game with an undisclosed injury, Bryant-Jon Anteola of The Fresno Bee reports.

Anteola stated that Hoes left the game after tweaking a muscle, which removes him from the equation as a possible call-up should the Astros need to promote someone if Jake Marisnick has to miss any time.

Hoes was optioned to Triple-A Fresno on Thursday.

Hoes' stay with the Astros was very short, and he saw just one at-bat with the club. The team recalled pitcher Kevin Chapman to take his place, but the outfielder remains one of the top replacement options following a scorching start at the plate in 2015 with the Triple-A club.

Hoes was recalled from Triple-A Fresno on Monday.

Hoes had gotten off to a terrific start at Triple-A, slashing .418/.458/.618 with 10 extra base hits through 15 contests. He'll serve as a reserve outfield option in the majors.

Hoes hit .280 over 25 Grapefruit League at-bats, but was never among the favorites to land a reserve outfielder role with the Astros. He'll serve as organizational depth in the upper minors.

Hoes' X-rays on Saturday came back negative, indicating he is not dealing with anything serious. He'll try to get in a little more work before the regular season starts, but is not guaranteed a roster spot even if he does make it back.

Hoes was likely moved for precautionary reasons, but he was seen grimacing in the dugout after being taken out. Already considered on the outside looking in, a serious injury would put a big dent in any hope of him nabbing a roster spot out of spring training.

The Astros recalled Hoes from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday.

Hoes hit just .175 in 52 games with the Astros this season, but he has appeared in 101 big league games in his career, so Houston decided to add him to the roster for the season's final month. Expect him to work as a reserve outfielder.

Hoes was slashing a dismal .175/.233/.292 this season, homering just three times and striking out 30 over 120 at-bats with the Astros. He hasn't been in the starting lineup since August first after seeing relatively consistent playing time in July. In his place, the Astros have recalled lefty reliever Kevin Chapman.

Hoes is not in the starting lineup Wednesday against the A's.

Hoes hasn't drawn a start for the Astros since July 22, even with George Springer (knee), Alex Presley (oblique) and Dexter Fowler (back) on the DL. His lack of recent of playing time could mean a demotion to the minors is forthcoming upon the return of any of the aforementioned outfielders.
