Rays signed C Eddy Rodriguez to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Rodriguez spent last season between Double- and Triple-A with the Padres, batting .231/.271/.374 with six homers. The 28-year-old will give the Rays pitchers someone else to throw to in spring training.
