Wed Feb 2814:22Kolten Wong Inks Minors Deal With Orioles
The Baltimore Orioles have signed veteran infielder Kolten Wong to a minor-league deal that includes an invite to big-league spring training. The 33-year-old has several productive seasons on his resume but suffered a disastrous 2023 campaign. Wong hit just .183 with four home runs, three stolen bases, and a .519 OPS across 87 games split between the Mariners and Dodgers. He hit .165 with a .468 OPS across 67 games with the Mariners before being released and he rebounded to a .300 average and an .853 OPS across 34 plate appearances with the Dodgers. He joins a crowded, youthful, and talented infield in Baltimore as he might be able to provide some veteran insurance behind baseball's No. 1 prospect in Jackson Holliday at the keystone.

Fri Aug 4 202321:35Kolten Wong Released By Mariners
Second baseman Kolten Wong was released by the Seattle Mariners on Friday. The 32-year-old has struggled this season, batting just .165 in 67 games in Seattle. There's a good chance he'll find a new team relatively soon. However, Wong isn't expected to offer much value to fantasy managers. On the other hand, he's still worth monitoring, considering he's had some productive seasons through the years.

Tue Aug 1 202320:37Kolten Wong Designated For Assignment
Seattle Mariners executive vice president and general manager of baseball operations Justin Hollander announced on Tuesday that the team designated infielder Kolten Wong for assignment. The team also recalled right-hander Trent Thornton from Triple-A Tacoma and optioned right-hander Juan Then and outfielder Taylor Trammell to Tacoma. Wong just could never get going this year in Seattle after the M's acquired him in a trade from the Milwaukee Brewers last offseason. The 32-year-old veteran infielder was hitting just .165/.241/.227 with two home runs, 19 RBI and 21 runs scored in 194 at-bats. The Mariners are giving new acquisition Josh Rojas his first start at the keystone on Tuesday, and Jose Caballero should also mix in at second base moving forward for Seattle.

Mon Jun 26 202318:56Kolten Wong Returns To Starting Lineup Monday
Seattle Mariners second baseman Kolten Wong is back in the starting lineup Monday night against Washington Nationals right-hander Trevor Williams. Wong has seen a significant dip in playing time this season amidst a disastrous time at the plate while his defense continues to decline as well. For the season, Wong is hitting just .164 with only one home run, which came this past Thursday. He owns a tiny .459 OPS across 152 plate appearances on the season. The veteran was a solid source of power and speed at the second base position just last season when he hit 15 homers alongside 17 stolen bases with the Brewers but his ugly 2023 season has seen him crater off of the fantasy baseball radar.

Fri Jun 23 202312:54Kolten Wong Homers For First Time In 2023
Seattle Mariners second baseman Kolten Wong went 2-for-3 with his first home run of the season, an RBI, run scored, a walk and a strikeout in the 10-2 thrashing of the New York Yankees on Thursday. It was a much-needed show of offensive force for the 32-year-old second baseman, who has fallen on hard times with the bat in his first season in Seattle. Even after the two-hit performance on Thursday, he is hitting a pitiful .167 (21-for-126) on the year with three doubles, 10 RBI and 13 runs scored in 44 games played. The poor performance has found him on the bench more often than not. Wong has played in only seven games in June and has gone 4-for-18 (.222) with the one home run, two RBI and seven strikeouts in 20 plate appearances.

Fri May 19 202314:01Kolten Wong Could Lose More Playing Time
Seattle Mariners second baseman Kolten Wong is in danger of losing playing time as he continues to struggle in 2023. Through 32 games, the veteran infielder is slashing just .177/.259/.231 in 108 plate appearances. Of second basemen with 100 plate appearances, he's tied for the lowest wins above replacement (minus-0.6). Wong's wRC+ is the lowest of all second basemen. The 32-year-old has just two hits in his last 21 trips to the plate. He also ranks near the bottom in hard-hit rate, average exit velocity on balls in play, barrel rate and expected batting average. On Wednesday, rookie Jose Caballero got the start at the keystone over Wong, and that could be a trend that continues. Caballero has hit .289/.365/.356 with three doubles, four RBI and three steals in 52 plate appearances.

Tue May 9 202321:14Kolten Wong Starting Tuesday On The Bench
Seattle Mariners second baseman Kolten Wong isn't in the starting lineup for Tuesday's matchup against Andrew Heaney and the Texas Rangers. He'll get a typical day off with a lefty on the hill, as he owns a career .653 OPS against southpaws. Sam Haggerty will take his spot on the field and bat last in the lineup. The 28-year-old has been horrendous so far over 13 games, slashing .077/.172/.077 with no homers, no RBI, one run, and three RBI. Haggerty's been exceptional versus lefties in his career, though, posting a .270 average with a .846 OPS, so maybe he'll find a spark and provide fantasy managers with some contributions as a streaming option.

Mon May 8 202317:59Kolten Wong Still Out Against Rangers
Seattle Mariners second baseman Kolten Wong (wrist) remains out of the starting lineup on Monday against the Texas Rangers. Wong hurt his wrist on Saturday against the Houston Astros and will now miss his second straight game. For now, fantasy managers should continue to consider the 32-year-old veteran as day-to-day. Jose Caballero will fill in at the keystone on Monday and hit eighth in the batting order against Rangers right-hander Jon Gray. Wong has been very quiet at the plate so far in 2023 in his first year in Seattle, going just 15-for-79 (.190) with two doubles, no home runs, eight RBI and nine runs scored in his 25 games. Hopefully, a little time off due to his injury will allow him to pick things up offensively when he returns.

Sun May 7 202313:52Kolten Wong Not In The Lineup On Sunday
Seattle Mariners second baseman Kolten Wong (wrist) is not in the lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Houston Astros. The veteran second baseman left Saturday's contest in the fifth inning after diving for a ball on defense. The X-rays on his wrist were negative but he could be out a couple of days until he feels right. He should be considered day-to-day for now. Jose Caballero is filling in at the keystone and batting eighth in Wong's place on Sunday.

Sun Apr 23 202321:17Kolten Wong Collects Three Hits Against Former Team
Seattle Mariners second baseman Kolten Wong went 3-for-4 with a run scored in a 7-3 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday. This was Wong's second multi-hit effort of the season as the veteran second baseman has gotten off to an absolutely brutal start. He's slashing an ugly .140/.231/.140 with three RBI, no home runs, and no stolen bases. It's not surprising to see the slow start as this is Wong's first season in Seattle. The Mariners have been benching him against left-handers but they'll give him time to turn things around given his track record. In the meantime, fantasy managers can leave him on the waiver wire.

Wed Apr 12 202313:33Kolten Wong Still Near The Bottom Of The Order
Seattle Mariners second baseman Kolten Wong is in the lineup for Wednesday's matchup against Marcus Stroman and the Chicago Cubs, batting eighth and playing the keystone. The two-time Gold Glove winner is struggling to begin 2023, slashing .118/.225/.118 with three runs and three RBI in 10 games. Wong started the season at the top of the lineup but has appeared no higher than sixth since April 5. That will hurt his production in terms of counting stats, making him nothing more than a one-category contributor with his decent baserunning ability. Wong is currently only relevant in deeper leagues, even if he moves up the lineup.

Tue Apr 4 202318:18Kolten Wong Remains Out On Tuesday
Seattle Mariners second baseman Kolten Wong (rest) is out of the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Los Angeles Angels. The left-handed slugger will miss his second game in a row due to the fact the Mariners have faced back-to-back left-handed starters. Sam Haggerty will cover second base and bat seventh versus lefty Jose Suarez on Tuesday. It sounds like Wong will be back in the lineup once they face some right-handed pitching.

Fri Dec 2 202217:08Mariners Acquire Kolten Wong From The Brewers
The Seattle Mariners acquired second baseman Kolten Wong from the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday in exchange for outfielder Jesse Winker and third baseman Abraham Toro, according to sources. The Brewers picked up Wong's $10 million club option for the 2023 season but then dealt him to Seattle on Friday. In Seattle, Wong will become the everyday second baseman next year, replacing free-agent Adam Frazier at the keystone. The 32-year-old veteran will be leaving a hitter-friendly ballpark for a more pitcher-friendly one in the Pacific Northwest, so he could see some regression at the plate in 2023 after slashing .251/.339/.430 with a career-high 15 home runs, 47 RBI, 65 runs scored and 17 stolen bases in 134 games in 2022. Wong will have plenty of opportunities to score runs in this Mariners lineup.

Milwaukee picked up Wong's 2023 club option, but he might not be with them next season after hitting .262/.337/.439 over the last two years with the club. In 134 games last season, Wong had a career-high 15 home runs, 47 RBI, 65 runs scored and 17 stolen bases for the Brew Crew.

Tue Nov 8 202217:10Brewers Pick Up Kolten Wong's Option
The Milwaukee Brewers exercised second baseman Kolten Wong's $10 million option for the 2023 season on Tuesday. Wong will return as the team's everyday second baseman next season after posting a 114 OPS+ over the last two seasons with Milwaukee despite uncharacteristic struggles on defense. The 32-year-old left-handed hitter slashed .251/.339/.430 with 15 home runs, 47 RBI, 65 runs scored and 17 stolen bases in 497 plate appearances and 134 games in his second year with the Brew Crew after he hit .272 with 14 long balls, 50 RBI and 12 steals in 116 games in 2021. It will be interesting if he can continue to keep his offensive roll going in 2023, but he should at least enter next year as Milwaukee's starter at the keystone.

Fri Sep 23 202200:33Kolten Wong Wallops Three Homers Thursday
Milwaukee Brewers second baseman Kolten Wong hit three home runs on Thursday to carry his team to a 5-1 win over the Reds. He collected all five RBI for his club in the contest with a pair of two-run shots and one solo bomb as he finished the night going 3-for-4. The veteran now has 15 long balls on the year to match his stolen base total and to go along with 62 runs, 46 RBI, and a .252 batting average so far through 123 games played. Wong has been a solid contributor to all five fantasy categories this year as tonight's contest will hopefully spark a hot streak to close out his 2022 campaign.

Milwaukee Brewers second baseman Kolten Wong (knee) was removed from Tuesday's game against the Colorado Rockies with general knee soreness. Peterson is back in the outfield for Tuesday's game and should continue to see regular playing time with Wong back. Meanwhile, outfielder Jonathan Davis should see reduced action going forward.
