Whitehurst completed 2-of-3 passes for 11 yards with an interception in Friday's preseason game against the Chiefs.
Whitehurst appears to have won the No. 3 quarterback job for the Titans, as rookie Alex Tanney didn't see any action at all Friday. The veteran probably won't have any value unless both Marcus Mariota and Zach Mettenberger get hurt.

Whitehurst completed his only pass for 12 yards in Sunday's preseason game against the Rams.
The veteran is far behind youngsters Marcus Mariota and Zach Mettenberger in Tennessee's quarterback race, and he's just hoping to hold off Alex Tanney for the number three gig at this point.

Whitehurst completed all five of his passes for 39 yards in Friday's preseason opener against Atlanta.
Whitehurst had a 54-yard touchdown pass to Andrew Turzilli nullified by Turzilli's own offensive pass interference penalty, then proceeded to make a bunch of safe throws to lead the Titans to a field goal in his one drive of action. The fact that Whitehurst was throwing to the likes of Turzilli and Tevin Westbrook rather than building a rapport with receivers projected to make the roster suggests that he's not in the team's quarterback plans in 2015. Whitehurst trails Zach Mettenberger for the backup job by a substantial margin.

Whitehurst completed 12-of-28 passes for 72 yards and a touchdown, while also rushing four times for 19 yards in Sunday's loss to the Colts.
Whitehurst was fairly impressive in Week 16 against the Jaguars, completed nearly 69 percent of his passes for 287 yards and a touchdown, but it came crashing down Sunday and he was eventually replaced by backup Jordan Palmer. With Zach Mettenberger the future under center in Nashville, Whitehurst is unlikely to make much of a fantasy impact in 2015.
Tue Dec 23 201415:09Whitehurst will get start in Week 17 against Indianapolis
Whitehurst will get the start in Week 17 against Indianapolis, Teresa Walker of the Associated Press reports.
While he's likely not in the franchise's plans going forward, Whitehurst will make another start as the Titans close out a disappointing season. The veteran was 24-of-35 from 287 yards and a touchdown against the Jaguars on Thursday, adding 12 rushing yards on three attempts. Rookie Zach Mettenberger (shoulder) may not play Sunday, but he was able to get in some work at Tuesday's practice.

Whitehurst completed 24-of-35 passes for 287 yards and a touchdown, adding 12 yards on three carries, in Thursday's 21-13 loss to the Jaguars.
Whitehurst went 6-of-6 for 71 yards and a touchdown on the opening drive, and was then rather ordinary for the remainder of the contest. He threw a bunch of dump-offs to scatback Leon Washington, but he also looked down the field a few times in search of Kendall Wright, Delanie Walker or Derek Hagan. Whitehurst has done a solid job as a backup this season, and he'll probably get one more shot to prove his worth in Week 17 against the Colts. While the Titans will likely turn to either Zach Mettenberger (shoulder) or an offseason acquisition as the starter for 2015, Whitehurst does have a year remaining on his contract. Mettenberger hasn't officially been ruled out for Week 17, but a return seems unlikely.

With Zach Mettenberger inactive, Whitehurst will start at QB for the Titans on Thursday against the Jaguars.
Not that there was any real doubt, given that Mettenberger was listed as doubtful, but working in Whitehurst's favor this week is that both WR Kendall Wright and TE Delanie Walker are active for Thursday's contest.

Whitehurst completed 10-of-24 passes for 203 yards in Sunday's 16-11 loss to the Jets. He took over for an injured Jake Locker (shoulder).
Whitehurst was having somewhat of an ugly outing until the last play of the game, when he picked up some nice yardage on a lateral, before making a sweet lateral of his own to TE Delanie Walker, who almost scored on the play. Walker was ultimately tackled around the 10-yard line, and Whitehurst was running with him, waiting for another lateral in which Whitehurst might have scored. In any case, Whitehurst will be the starter on Thursday at Jacksonville if Locker is unable to go. Rookie Zach Mettenberger hasn't been ruled out yet this year with his shoulder injury, but it seems highly unlikely that he'll play Thursday.
Thu Oct 23 201415:16Whitehurst's teammate
Whitehurst's teammate, Zach Mettenberger, will start Sunday's game against the Texans, the Titans' official site reports.
Meanwhile, Jake Locker is slated to slot in as the team's No. 2 QB behind Mettenberger, thus relegating Whitehurst to third-string duties, assuming the health of his fellow signal-callers.

Whitehurst completed 17-of-26 passes for 160 yards with two touchdowns and one interception Sunday against Washington.
Whitehurst connected with eight different receivers, including touchdowns to wideouts Kendall Wright and Derek Hagan. He has now thrown for two touchdowns in two of the last three games, though he's also failed to reach 200 passing yards in more than one game this season. Jake Locker is expected to return from his wrist injury next Sunday against the Texans, which would relegate Whitehurst back to the bench.
Sun Oct 19 201411:40Whitehurst will start at quarterback
With Jake Locker (thumb) inactive for Sunday's game against Washington, Whitehurst will start at quarterback. Zach Mettenberger will serve as the backup.
The Washington defense has been especially porous lately, coughing up 11 passing scores in its last four games. If you're desperate for a starter in a standard league or looking for a second guy in a two-QB format, Whitehurst could be a decent sleeper option.

Whitehurst took the majority of the reps during the open portion of practice Friday and all signs point to him starting again on Sunday against Washington, The Tennessean reports.
Jake Locker (thumb) is listed as questionable and was able to participate in portions of Friday's practice, but he spent most of the time looking on as Whitehurst took the snaps. The Titans said they will not make a final decision about a starter until Sunday. If he gets the nod, Whitehurst wouldn't be a highly recommended play, but you could do worse if you're desperate for a starter. The Washington defense is especially vulnerable to touchdowns through the air, surrendering a whopping 11 passing scores in its last four games.

Whitehurst, starting in place of the injured Jake Locker (thumb), completed 17-of-28 passes for a career-high 233 yards Sunday against the Jaguars.
While he failed to throw a touchdown for the first time in his three games in relief of Locker, Whitehurst has been better than expected and has done a good job of not turning the ball over (one interception and zero lost fumbles). Locker was questionable coming into the game but was unable to practice this week, so it's unclear just how close he really was to playing. If he misses another week of practice, Whitehurst will likely be under center in Week 7 at Washington, who are ranked 23rd in passing yards allowed this season, but have allowed 11 passing touchdowns, the fourth-most in the NFL.

Whitehurst is starting Sunday's game against the Jaguars in place of Jake Locker, who is inactive due to a thumb injury.
Locker was questionable coming into the game but was unable to practice all week, which left Whitehurst to get plenty of first-team reps leading up to Sunday. Whitehurst has been pretty good in relief of Locker so far this season and heads into Sunday with a great matchup against a Jaguars defense that is giving up 308.8 passing yards per game this season, while also giving up 12 touchdowns through the air.
Fri Oct 10 201414:42Whitehurst expected to start Sunday against Jacksonville
Whitehurst is expected to start Sunday against Jacksonville, the Tennessean reports.
Jake Locker (thumb) is officially listed as questionable, but he did not practice Friday and seems to be closer to doubtful. Whitehurst has been sneaky good in relief of Locker this year, completing 25-of-44 passes for 371 yards and three scores with just one interception. With a juicy matchup against Jacksonville's awful pass defense on tap, Whitehurst is an appealing sleeper this week if you're in the market for a quarterback. Opposing passers are averaging 330 yards and 2.4 touchdowns against the Jags this season.

Whitehurst came on in the second quarter of Sunday's game against the Browns after Jake Locker suffered another wrist injury, and he completed 13-of-21 passes for 194 yards and two touchdowns.
Whitehurst was excellent soon after taking over for Locker, throwing an 11-yard touchdown to Kendall Wright and then a 75-yard touchdown pass to Justin Hunter to put the Titans up 28-3. They inexplicably changed their game plan in the second half, which ultimately led them to blowing their entire lead and losing 29-28. Locker did not play in Week 4 against the Colts due to a wrist injury, and if the latest concern is serious, Whitehurst could be under center for Week 6 against the Jaguars.

Whitehurst completed 12-of-23 passes for 177 yards with one touchdown and one interception Sunday against the Colts. He also added 40 rushing yards on five carries.
Whitehurt played in place of the injured Jake Locker (wrist), but didn't do much in his first start since the 2011 season. He connected with five different receivers, including tight end Delanie Walker five times for 84 yards and a touchdown. The Titans' receivers dropped a number of passes, which certainly didn't help Whitehurst, but he's not a great quarterback to begin with, so he wasn't expected to go into Lucas Oil Stadium and outscore the high-powered Colts' offense. It's unclear just how close Locker was to starting Sunday, but if he can't go next week, Whitehurst will get the Week 5 start against the Browns, who are giving up the sixth-most passing yards per game this season.
Sun Sep 28 201408:45Charlie Whitehurst: Will Start Against Colts
Whitehurst will start Sunday's game in place of the an injured Locker (wrist), ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
Whitehurst will see his first action of the season -- and his first start since 2011 -- with Locker unable to go. He will take on a Colts team that ranks 28th in the league against the pass through three weeks, but is 13-4 at home with Andrew Luck at quarterback.
Thu Sep 25 201412:43Whitehurst's teammate
Whitehurst's teammate, Jake Locker, is dealing with a wrist injury, the Tennessean reports.
Locker missed Wednesday's practice because of his wrist strain and if he is unable to go Sunday against the Colts, Whitehurst -- who hasn't thrown a pass in an NFL regular-season game since 2011 -- would be in line to start at QB for the Titans in his place.
Sun Sep 21 201411:28Whitehurst (finger) active for Sunday's game against Bengals
Whitehurst (finger) is active for Sunday's game against the Bengals.
With Zach Mettenberger made a healthy inactive Sunday, Whitehurst will serve as the team's top backup at quarterback behind Jake Locker.
