Pryor was outrighted off the 40-man roster Sunday, Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports.
Pryor's spring training didn't go terribly, allowing just one run over six innings, but it appears the Twins don't think he's ready to be part of the major league roster. Mon Mar 23 201510:10Pryor optioned to Triple-A Rochester
Pryor was optioned to Triple-A Rochester.
Pryor made five appearances this spring, allowing one run on four hits in six innings with one walk and one strikeout. He lost much of 2013 to shoulder issues and eventually underwent surgery to repair a torn lat, which caused his 2014 season to be delayed until July. He struggled initially last year (4.65 ERA) before finding his form after being traded to the Twins (0.89 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 20.1 innings at Triple-A, but with 16 walks). The Twins likely feel he needs more time in the minors to get back to full speed.

Pryor lost much of 2013 to shoulder issues and eventually underwent surgery to repair a torn lat, which caused his 2014 season to be delayed until July. He struggled initially last year (4.65 ERA) before finding his form after being traded to the Twins in July (0.89 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 20.1 innings at Triple-A - but 16 walks).

Twins acquired RHP Stephen Pryor from the Twins for 1B/DH Kendrys Morales; assigned him to Triple-A Rochester.
It's essentially a salary dump. Pryor has spent the majority of the 2014 season at Triple-A Tacoma, where he owns an underwhelming 4.65 ERA in 31 innings. The 25-year-old right-hander could join Minnesota's bullpen soon, but only as a middle reliever.
