Wed Apr 23 201417:33CB Marcus Trufant retiring after 11 seasons
Seahawks CB Marcus Trufant has retired from the NFL after 11 seasons.
Trufant, 33, will sign a one-day contract with Seattle on Thursday so he can retire as a member of the team. The former No. 11 overall pick out of Washington State spent his entire career with the Seahawks before inking a one-year deal with the Jaguars last offseason and getting released at final cuts. He spent the 2013 season on the street. Trufant started 125 games in his career, making 644 tackles, deflecting 102 passes and picking off 21 others.

Free agent CB Marcus Trufant worked out for the Seahawks on Monday.
Trufant, 33 next month, spent the first ten seasons of his career in the Great Northwest before signing with the Jaguars this past offseason. He was a part of Jacksonville's final cuts and has been on the street ever since. The Seahawks are trying to replace CBs Walter Thurmond III and Brandon Browner. Thurmond III has been suspended four games for violating the league's substance-abuse policy, while Browner is reportedly facing a suspension of his own.

Tue May 14 201313:31Bradley: We'll use Trufant at nickel back
Jaguars coach Gus Bradley confirmed Tuesday that new CB Marcus Trufant should primarily play in the slot, but left open the possibility that he could be used outside.
Trufant was a slot corner for the Seahawks last season, but not a good one. The Jags are wafer thin at corner, so they could decide to roll the dice on Trufant's experience outside instead of banking on second-year pro Mike Harris taking a step forward. We'll learn more in training camp.

Tue May 7 201309:09Former Seahawk Trufant meets with Jaguars
Free agent CB Marcus Trufant is meeting with the Jaguars Tuesday.
Trufant played for new Jags head coach Gus Bradley in Seattle, where he saw just 365 snaps last season. In Jacksonville, he'd be a veteran presence to help the frighteningly young corner duo of Dwayne Gratz and Mike Harris.

Seahawks declared CB Marcus Trufant (hamstring) inactive for Sunday's Week 15 game against the Bills.

Sun Dec 9 201215:06Marcus Trufant among Seahawks inactives
Seahawks declared CB Marcus Trufant (hamstring) inactive for Sunday's Week 14 game against the Cardinals.
Trufant can't get over the hump with his hammy and it's bad timing. Brandon Browner, of course, is suspended for the final four games of the season. Otherwise, the Seahawks are healthy. Their inactives: WR Charly Martin, DB DeShaun Shead, CB Ron Parker, G Rishaw Johnson, T Mike Person and DT Jaye Howard.

Sat Dec 1 201212:39Macrus Trufant doubtful for Week 13
Seahawks CB Marcus Trufant (hamstring) is officially doubtful for Week 13.
"We're really surprised that popped up; it's going to be really hard for him to get back from that," said coach Pete Carroll about Trufant's injury. With the possible suspensions of Brandon Browner and Richard Sherman looming, Trufant's health could leave the Seahawks extremely thin at corner for their playoff push over the last month of the season.

Fri Oct 5 201216:10Marcus Trufant to be game-time decision
Seahawks CB Marcus Trufant (back) returned to a limited practice Friday and will be a game-time decision in Week 5 against Carolina.
Trufant has been covering the slot this season, between LCB Richard Sherman and RCB Brandon Browner. The Panthers don't really use a slot receiver much, although we suspect Trufant would match up on Greg Olsen quite a bit were he active for this game. Trufant has struggled in coverage this season.

Thu Oct 4 201211:32Marcus Trufant sidelined by back issue
Seahawks nickelback Marcus Trufant missed Wednesday's practice with a sore back.
It's a concern because Trufant missed 18 games between 2009 and 2011 due to back issues. If he can't go, Danny Gorrer and Byron Maxwell would step in against the Panthers Sunday.

Sat Jun 2 201211:43Carroll praises CB Trufant
Seahawks coach Pete Carroll says CB Marcus Trufant has looked good in the slot in OTAs.
"There are a lot of nuances about this thing that he never had to pay attention to before, so he's learning kind of like a first-timer," Carroll said. "But he has so much savvy and ability, we think that it could be a great spot for him." Making just $1 million, Trufant should be assured of a roster spot barring a disastrous camp.

Mon Apr 9 201218:00Seahawks re-sign longtime CB Marcus Trufant
Seahawks re-signed CB Marcus Trufant to a one-year contract.
Trufant drew interest from the Broncos in free agency, but is likely returning to Seattle for the veteran's minimum. Now going on age 32, Trufant appeared in just four games last season before a "flare up" of his chronic back injury sent him to I.R. Trufant was drafted by Seattle in 2003 and is the longest tenured Seahawk. He won't be assured of a roster spot this summer.

Thu Mar 15 201214:11Broncos to work out Marcus Trufant
Free agent CB Marcus Trufant will visit the Broncos Friday.
It will be Trufant's first known visit of free agency. Originally set to earn an untenable $7.2 million in 2012, he was released by the Seahawks last week. Four years removed from being an All Pro, Trufant appeared in just four games last season before a back injury sent him to injured reserve.

Wed Mar 7 201215:19Seahawks release CB Marcus Trufant
Seahawks released CB Marcus Trufant.
We already had Trufant listed as a free agent because he was never going to be back after reworking his contract last offseason. Seattle, quietly, has one of the top young secondaries in football even with Trufant moving on. Chronic back problems will shake his market value, but Trufant should be able to find one more shot. He's 31 years old and has plenty of ties around the league, including to Falcons DBs coach Tim Lewis. Trufant was the longest-tenured Seahawk in 2011. He'd been with the club since being picked with the 11th overall pick in 2003.

Fri Jan 6 201213:04Trufant not expected back in Seattle
Impending free agent CB Marcus Trufant is not expected back with the Seahawks in 2012.
The 2003 first-rounder is the longest-tenured of the Seahawks. He lasted just four games in 2011 before ongoing back issues sent him to injured reserve. With Richard Sherman and Brandon Browner emerging as quality starters, it's to believe the 31-year-old Trufant remains in the team's plans.

Wed Oct 19 201113:22Marcus Trufant's back injury is chronic
The back injury that ended Seahawks LCB Marcus Trufant's season was a "flare up" of the same disk ailment that cost Trufant six games during the 2009 season.
"It's a recurring back situation," confirmed coach Pete Carroll. The injury came at a bad time for both the Seahawks and Trufant, who will be released after the season with a $7.2 million salary due in 2012. Trufant is unlikely to re-sign with Seattle, which will move forward with Brandon Browner and Walter Thurmond III.

Mon Oct 17 201118:35Seahawks place CB Trufant on injured reserve
Seahawks placed LCB Marcus Trufant (back) on injured reserve, ending his season.
Trufant was Seattle's lone corner playing at a high level, so it's a big loss. He's a free agent after this season. Trufant, 29, also missed a large chunk of the 2009 season with back problems. The Seahawks will move forward with Brandon Browner at right corner and Walter Thurmond manning the left side. They'll continue to be a pass defense to target for fantasy matchup purposes.

Sun Oct 9 201111:48Marcus Trufant inactive for Seattle
Seahawks declared CB Marcus Trufant (back) inactive for Sunday's game against the Giants.
The Seahawks' struggling secondary takes another hit. Brandon Browner is getting abused weekly he'll see plenty of Hakeem Nicks today. Mario Manningham is back in the lineup, getting votes of confidence from his coaches and now won't have to deal with Trufant. The other Seahawks inactives: QB Josh Portis, WR Mike Williams, T Jarriel King, G Robert Gallery, LB Malcolm Smith and CB Byron Maxwell.

Sun Aug 28 201121:44Report: Seahawks CB Trufant takes pay cut
According to Profootballtalk, Seahawks CB Marcus Trufant accepted a pay cut from $5.9 million to $3 million this season.
It's a substantial reduction reflecting the 30-year-old's decline the past couple of seasons. Trufant can make up with the difference in "not likely to be earned" incentives, such as a Pro Bowl selection or reaching a specific number of interceptions. The rest of Trufant's contract remains unchanged, though he has no chance of seeing $7.2 million in 2012 or $8.8 million in 2013.
