De Paula will be optioned down to Triple-A Scranton Wilkes-Barre on Monday.
De Paula pitched 3.1 innings during Sunday's blowout loss to the Tigers where he gave up a home run and walked four during his time on the mound. Fortunately for him, he wasn't the only Yankee to pitch poorly Sunday as Masahiro Tanaka and Danny Burawa combined to give up four home runs of their own, although both De Paula's and Burawa's outings were dismal enough to warrant an option back to Triple-A.

De Paula was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes Barre on Wednesday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
De Paula, a 27-year-old left hander, posted a 1.53 ERA with eight strikeouts and three walks over 17.2 innings this season at Triple-A. To clear room for De Paula on the roster, the Yankees optioned right-hander Jose Ramirez.

Jose De Paula has a shot at winning a bullpen job with the Giants.
"I don't know a lot about him, but he's been the talk around camp right now with his early success," Giants manager Bruce Bochy said. "It's a good arm, good breaking ball. He pounds the zone on both sides. I didn't know a lot about him coming out of San Diego, but he's really opened up some eyes." De Paula was claimed off waivers from the Padres in November, and while he's still got some work to do, he could sneak onto the Opening Day roster if he continues his strong spring.

De Paula didn't pitch at all last season due to visa issues in his native Dominican Republic, but apparently he won't have those problems this year. The 22-year-old southpaw had a 5.22 ERA and 87/37 K/BB ratio over 112 innings in High-A in 2011.
