Wall was designated for assignment by the Pirates on Friday.

Wall's stint with the Pirates lasted just two days before he was designated for assignment Friday to make room on the 25-man roster for Josh Harrison. While his numbers at Triple-A Indianapolis were impressive, it's been a bit of an anomaly when compared to the rest of his career. He will likely wind up in the minors once again if he passes through waivers unclaimed.

Wall was promoted to the big leagues Wednesday, the Pittsburgh Tribune's Travis Sawchik reports.

Wall certainly earned the promotion, posting a 2.93 ERA with 29 strikeouts 30.2 innings at Triple-A. He will be used in the middle innings for Pittsburgh to help give the rest of the bullpen arms a breather down the stretch.

Wall signed a minor league contract with the Pirates on Friday, which includes an invite to spring training.

He had a 2.91 ERA in 34 innings at Triple-A in the Pirates' organization last season, but he was much worse, with the Angels, and he has a 15.15 ERA in 13.2 big league innings for his career. Look for him to offer organizational bullpen depth for the Pirates in 2015.

Wall cleared waivers and has been assigned to Triple-A Indianapolis.

Wall, who was DFA'd by the Pirates last week, made it through waivers without being claimed and will look to get back on track at Triple-A. In 19 games for Indianapolis this season, Wall posted a 3.22 ERA with 22 strikeouts in 22.1 innings.
