Athletics optioned RHP Graham Godfrey to Triple-A Sacramento.
Well, we suppose that rules him out for Monday's start. Godfrey dealt with a blister in his last outing, but the A's will go in another direction even though the righty appears to now be healthy. It's not clear at this point who will get the ball Monday against the Twins.

Athletics recalled RHP Graham Godfrey from Triple-A Sacramento.

Sun May 20 201213:35Godfrey expected to take McCarthy's spot
Graham Godfrey is expected to take Brandon McCarthy's (shoulder) spot in the rotation.
The A's tipped their hand when they pulled Godfrey early from Friday's start. The right-hander posted a 5.06 ERA in 16 innings earlier this season with the A's, and fantasy owners would no doubt rather see Brad Peacock get a shot. But, Godfrey has probably earned another opportunity with his work at Triple-A Sacramento, where he's posted a 1.21 ERA and 22/5 K/BB ratio over 29 2/3 innings.

Wed Apr 11 201202:23Graham Godfrey gives up two runs in loss
Graham Godfrey allowed two runs over six innings Tuesday in a loss to the Royals.
Godfrey followed up Tom Milone's zero-strikeout gem with a nice outing that included just one K. It's unlikely that Godfrey will have lasting value in AL-only leagues, but he is an option in his home starts against mediocre offenses.

Tue Apr 3 201202:05Graham Godfrey goes five scoreless
Graham Godfrey shut out the Giants for five innings in his start Monday night.
Godfrey allowed four hits, walked none and struck out three. Godfrey is in the mix to be one of Oakland's five starters to begin the year, though he projects as more of a middle reliever for the long haul. AL-only leaguers can take a wait-and-see approach.

Wed Mar 21 201218:38Graham Godfrey struggles
Graham Godfrey struggled against the Royals Wednesday, giving up three runs on six hits and two walks over just three innings.
He struck out one and surrendered a solo homer to Lorenzo Cain. Godfrey entered spring training with an outside shot at a rotation spot, and he hasn't helped himself with a 7.11 ERA through five outings. Still, with Jarrod Parker and Brad Peacock haven't been sent to minor league camp, he remains in the running.

Sat Mar 17 201203:05Graham Godfrey strikes out five in victory
Graham Godfrey allowed one run in 3 2/3 innings and struck out five in a victory over the Mariners on Friday.
Godfrey also got five outs on the ground. He needed a strong outing to stay in Oakland's rotation picture for the start of the season. He has a 6.52 ERA through four outings, so he's still pretty clearly an underdog in the competition.

Fri Aug 26 201115:42Graham Godfrey will be recalled Saturday
Graham Godfrey will be recalled from Triple-A Sacramento Saturday to start the second game of a doubleheader against the Red Sox.
The A's brought Josh Outman up Friday, but they'll use Godfrey for the start, as he's simply pitched much better, posting a 2.75 ERA and 84/29 K/BB ratio over 101 1/3 innings at Triple-A. He's not a desirable spot-start option, though, for fantasy purposes.

Sat Jun 18 201102:57Graham Godfrey earns win for A's
Graham Godfrey picked up his first major league victory after allowing two runs -- one earned -- in seven innings versus the Giants on Friday.
Godfrey gave up fuve runs in 4 1/3 inings in a no-decision against the White Sox last week in his major league debut. This was an easier assignment, and he got the job done in allowing six hits, walking none and striking out three. A's starters usually aren't bad bets for fantasy purposes, but we'd still shy away from Godfrey in AL-only leagues for now.
