Wed Nov 20 201317:37Kwame Brown gets waived by the Sixers
Kwame Brown has been waived by the Sixers.
It was just a matter of time and he has yet to play with the team this season. Brown will likely clear waivers and will get a chance to sign with another team. The former first overall pick from 2001 doesn't have much left in the tank, though.

Fri Sep 27 201312:10Kwame Brown (hamstring) seeking 2nd opinion
Kwame Brown suffered a strained right hamstring recently and will seek a second opinion.
That's not good news for a Philadelphia team that is already dangerously thin when it comes to big men. Then again, Brown only made it through 22 games last season, so it's probably not smart to expect much out of him even when he's healthy. Spencer Hawes is going to get all the minutes he can handle at center this season. And with Arnett Moultrie out for half the season, Thaddeus Young gets a bump, while Lavoy Allen is now officially on the radar.

Wed Jul 31 201311:0876ers aren't yet buying out Kwame Brown
The 76ers are not yet working to buy out Kwame Brown's contract.
Sixers writer Tom Moore expects the team to jettison Brown's final year, worth $2.9 million, but it's far from a priority and the team is already $16.3 million below the salary cap. For fantasy purposes, it doesn't matter whether Kwame stays in Philly or is bought out and signs elsewhere.

Tue Jul 2 201314:25Sixers will buy out Kwame Brown?
Beat writer Tom Moore expects the Sixers to buy out Kwame Brown's $2.945 million contract.
Even Brown's staunchest supporter, Doug Collins, gave the former No. 1 overall pick 52 DNP-CDs last season. Now Collins is gone and new GM Sam Hinkie is trying to rebuild with a team of young players that need to be in the right atmosphere. Brown would not fit in that atmosphere. A buyout agreement shouldn't be hard to reach.

Fri Jun 28 201319:13Kwame Brown will pick up player option
Kwame Brown has exercised his $2.95 million player option for next season, agent Mark Bartelstein told Ken Berger of CBS Sports.
It was a no-brainer decision for Brown. He wouldn't be coveted by many teams on a multiple-year deal and a one-year deal that is more than $3 million is just as unlikely. Brown is one of the biggest busts with the top overall pick in draft history and nobody is expecting him to be a late bloomer at age 31. He played 12.2 minutes per game last year and could have a similar role.

Wed Feb 6 201318:01Kwame Brown will start vs. Pacers on Wed.
The Sixers will start Kwame Brown alongside Spencer Hawes against the Pacers on Wednesday.
With Thaddeus Young (hamstring) sidelined, coach Doug Collins plans to mix and match his lineups based on the matchup. Brown should get the occasional start as a result, but Hawes remains the better fantasy option as long as Young is sidelined and Andrew Bynum (knees) remains out.

Wed Feb 6 201309:16Kwame Brown could draw start on Wednesday
Kwame Brown could draw the start against the Pacers on Wednesday.
Without Thaddeus Young (hamstring), Doug Collins indicated he's likely to mix and match depending on matchups. Regardless, the biggest winner from a fantasy standpoint is Spencer Hawes, who will be thrust into a much larger role while Young is out and Andrew Bynum (knees) also remains on the shelf. Jrue Holiday and Evan Turner will also be tasked to do more.

Mon Jan 28 201322:38Kwame Brown returns on Monday
Kwame Brown saw his first action since January 15 on Monday and had three points, two boards and one block.
His name doesn't carry a lot of street cred in fantasy leagues, so we wouldn't bend over backwards to pick him up. We probably wouldn't bend over frontwards to pick up Brown either.

Kwame Brown missed practice Thursday due to personal reasons.
There was no further reason given for Brown's absence. Brown missed time earlier in the month due to a death in the family. The Sixers next play Friday against the Raptors so we'll probably hear more about Brown's status tomorrow. That said, he's a perennial backup with almost no fantasy value.

Doug Collins called Kwame Brown a "situational starter."
Brown will start a few games when the Sixers need his size inside while Andrew Bynum (knees) remains shelved, but he's otherwise not going to accrue a lot of playing time. This is where we're at with the former No. 1 overall pick, and nobody should be surprised.
