The Indians outrighted Murata off their 40-man roster Friday, Paul Hoynes of the NE Ohio Media Group reports.

The Indians needed to open a spot on their 40-man roster for Josh Tomlin, and removed Murata to do just that. He was already playing with Triple-A Columbus and will continue doing so.
