De La Rosa will only need a couple of games in the minor leagues and is expected to return to the Angels bullpen in early May. There's a chance that he could work his way into the late inning mix very quickly upon his return.

De La Rosa returned from the DL over the weekend, but the Angels want to have him examined after his velocity was down in his lone appearance. He was optioned to Triple-A Sunday. "He feels good, he says he feels healthy, so I think you just want to explore why some of his velo is down," Scioscia added. "Once he's ready, I know he's going to get right back on the horse. And Dane De La Rosa is going to be a big part of our bullpen. It's just going to take a little more time."
