Kyle McPherson underwent surgery Wednesday to repair a broken medial epicondyle in his right elbow.

McPherson was working his way back from Tommy John surgery when he apparently broke his elbow somehow. The Pirates were hoping to have him as an option around midseason, but he'll now miss all of the 2014 campaign.

McPherson isn't due to hit arbitration for a few years, but the Pirates have decided not to pay him while he's rehabbing from Tommy John surgery. He's flashed promise in the minors and in his brief time with the big club, making him an interesting flier for someone.
