Culver was invited to big league camp by the Yankees, the Westchester Journal News reports.
The former first-round pick has never posted a an OPS above .700 at a full-season stop (minimum 40 games) in the minors. He'll likely start 2015 at Double-A, but his long-term value from the Yankees may come entirely from his ability as a strong defender at shortstop. Now 22 years old, Culver's ceiling offensively has been lowered considerably since he was drafted in 2010.

Yankees prospect shortstop Cito Culver went 2-for-5, including hitting a walkoff two-run double for High-A Tampa on Wednesday.
Culver was a highly-criticized first round pick back in 2010, and has struggled to justify his lofty draft status, hitting just .238/.319/.325 for his professional career. He is hitting .237/.298/.311 with 11 doubles, one triple, and one home run for the season. He has 63 strikeouts in 243 plate appearances, and has struck out in 22.1% of his plate appearances for his career.
