Even after trading away Matt Kemp, the Dodgers have a pretty promising stable of outfielders. That makes Carson a long shot to break camp with the big-league squad, after he spent all of 2014 with the Indians' Triple-A affiliate. Already 33 years old, Carson owns a career .237/.257/.356 slash line over 187 plate appearances in the majors. He posted a .259/.335/.423 line for Triple-A Columbus last season.

The deal will include an invitation to spring training. Carson was non-tendered by the Indians earlier this week, but he'll remain in the organization. He has batted .237/.257/.356 over 92 games at the big league level.

Matt Carson singled with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 11th to give the Indians a 2-1 win over the Astros on Thursday.
Because enough wasn't breaking right for the Indians this year, Carson has somehow gone 7-for-9 since his callup on Aug. 28. He had been a career .211 hitter with a 51/4 K/BB ratio in 166 major league at-bats. Now his average is up to .240.
