Padres re-signed OF Travis Buck to a minor league contract.
Buck signed a similar deal with San Diego last winter and spent the entire 2013 season at Triple-A Tucson, where he batted .256 with a brutal .296 on-base percentage. The 30-year-old is a .243/.316/.399 career hitter in the majors.

He hasn't yet discussed a timetable yet with Houston, but believes his ankle is sound enough for game conditions. Buck was placed on the DL earlier this month with a sore right heel. He has resumed all baseball activities except, of course, playing in games. Whenever his rehab stint begins, it shouldn't last long. Expect Buck back in the majors by the end of the month.

Travis Buck left Tuesday's game after being beaned in the head by a Francisco Liriano pitch.
Buck was drilled square in the side of the helmet and looked quite dazed when he got up and tried to walk. It seems likely that he probably has a concussion, but we'll wait on official word from the Indians. He was replaced by Luis Valbuena.
