Jermaine Mitchell is a full participant in Athletics camp despite offseason microfracture surgery on his knee.
Mitchell was added to the 40-man roster after batting .332/.430/.530 with 15 homers, 78 RBI, 27 stolen bases between Double- and Triple-A in 2011. At 27, he's too old to be called a prospect, but it's possible he could break camp with the big club if he has a good spring training.

Athletics purchased the contract of OF Jermaine Mitchell from Triple-A Sacramento.
The 27-year-old Mitchell enjoyed a breakthrough 2011 season, batting .332/.430/.530 with 15 homers, 78 RBI, 27 stolen bases and a .960 OPS over 635 plate appearances between Double-A Midland and Triple-A Sacramento. While he is a potential option for the A's outfield moving forward, he is at risk of missing the start of the season following knee surgery.
