Fox signed a minor league contract with the Blue Jays on Friday that includes an invite to spring training, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet reports.
Fox hasn't seen major-league action since 2011 with the Orioles, when he played in 27 games. The 31-year-old infielder spent 2014 with Double-A Reading, posting a .308/.373/.591 batting line with 22 home runs and 70 RBI. He will look for an opportunity at making the Jays' big league club as a utility infielder, but faces an uphill battle with Edwin Encarnacion at first and Josh Donaldson at third. Still, he could nab a spot with a strong spring training.

Pirates signed C-1B Jake Fox to a minor league contract.
Fox hit .246/.313/.442 with two home runs and six RBI in 67 major league plate appearances this year. He has enough raw power to secure a bench spot in Pittsburgh during spring training next March, but he's never been reliable enough or versatile enough for everyday duties.

Jake Fox and Chris Jakubauskas are unlikely to accept their outright assignments to Triple-A Norfolk.

Fox, 29, batted .246/.313/.443 with two homers, six RBI and a .756 OPS over 67 plate appearances at the big league level this season. Jakubauskas had a 5.72 ERA and 52/29 K/BB ratio over 72 1/3 innings as a starter and reliever.

Orioles purchased the contract of C-1B Jake Fox from Triple-A Norfolk.
Fox, 29, has tallied 12 home runs and 57 RBI in 67 games this season with the Triple-A Norfolk Tides. He hasn't enjoyed nearly that kind of success in the majors, though, and can be avoided for fantasy purposes.

Fri Jun 10 201113:21Jake Fox clears waivers, outrighted
Orioles sent C-1B Jake Fox outright to Triple-A Norfolk.
The Orioles were unable to find a trade partner to unload Fox, who was designated for assignment last week, and he wound up clearing waivers and remaining in the organization. He was batting just .188/.250/.396 before the O's designated him, though his playing time was sporadic, as he accumulated just 52 plate appearances.

Fri Jun 10 201108:47Pirates unlikely to claim Jake Fox?
Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun considers it unlikely that the Pirates will claim Jake Fox off waivers from the Orioles.
Connolly reported earlier that he though the move would happen, but apparently the Pirates aren't convinced that Fox could catch for them regularly, which is what they would need with Chris Snyder and Ryan Doumit both sidelined. He says it's now "50/50" that Fox clears waivers and is sent outright to Triple-A Norfolk.

Thu Jun 9 201114:02Fox to be claimed by Pirates?
Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun speculates that the Pirates could claim Jake Fox from the Orioles.
Given that the Pirates will now have Dusty Brown and Wyatt Toregas behind the plate because of injuries to Ryan Doumit and Chris Snyder, it's a reasonable assumption to make. Of course, the Pirates are 30-30 entering play Thursday, so upwards of 12 teams would have a chance to make a claim first. We should hear something definitive about his status on Friday.

Wed Jun 1 201114:05Fox says O's attempting to trade him
Jake Fox said Wednesday that the Orioles are attempting to trade him.
Fox was designated for assignment Wednesday to make room for the return of Brian Matusz. The 28-year-old has struggled to the tune of a .188/.250/.396 batting line over 52 plate appearances this season, but has 20 homers over 519 major league plate appearances. He could be fantasy relevant depending upon where he lands.

Wed Jun 1 201113:30Orioles designate Jake Fox for assignment
Orioles designated C/1B Jake Fox for assignment.
He was cleared to make room for Brian Matusz on the active roster. Fox hit 10 homers during Grapefruit League action, but was batting just .188 with two homers over his first 48 at-bats this season. While he wasn't going to get much of an opportunity in Baltimore, there's a good chance someone will pick him up off the waiver wire.

Tue May 31 201114:07Fox speaks with Showalter about role on team
Jake Fox spoke with Orioles manager Buck Showalter over the weekend about his role on the team.
Fox isn't happy with the limited playing time he's received thus far. He's hit .188 in 19 games, including 12 starts. "I think my role is still very unclear," Fox said. "They are not seeing me perform the way they want me to and I think that has kept him from putting me in the lineup more. Obviously with the number of at-bats I've had it is going to take me a few games to get back in a rhythm. We had this conversation, and [I said] I feel like I'm still the same guy I was this spring. Nothing has changed. I'm still putting the ball in play, my timing isn't quite there, my pitch recognition isn't quite there." Fox wasn't able to take advantage of Derek Lee's DL stint and there's a chance Fox could lose his roster spot when Lee is activated as soon as this weekend.

Sat Apr 16 201117:51Fox triples and homers in loss
Jake Fox tripled and homered in Saturday's loss to the Indians.
Fox was the talk of spring training after slamming 10 homers in 74 at-bats during Grapefruit League, but this is his first home run of the regular season. To be fair, Fox only had seven at-bats entering Saturday's action. The Orioles may recall Craig Tatum from the minors soon, which would allow him to receive more at-bats off the bench.

Fri Apr 8 201101:06Fox and Andino to play this weekend
Orioles manager Buck Showalter said Thursday that both Jake Fox and Robert Andino will get starts this weekend.
Fox tore up pitching this spring and could make a decent impact if given a couple games per week. Andino's job would be primarily to give one of the starting infielders a day off.

Mon Mar 28 201116:37Orioles' Fox slams 10th homer
Jake Fox connected on his major league-high 10th spring homer Monday off the Tigers' Max Scherzer.
The Orioles still haven't committed to a bench yet, so Fox's role is unclear. However, he can rest assured that someone is going to claim him if he's placed on waivers. Odds are that the Orioles will be forced to keep him, even though there isn't much of a role for him on the team. Like Derrek Lee and Vladimir Guerrero, he's a right-handed hitter, and since he's a weak defender behind the plate, it's doubtful the Orioles will let him catch very frequently.

Tue Mar 22 201115:48Orioles' Fox hits eighth spring homer
Jake Fox hit his eighth homer of the spring Tuesday as part of the Orioles' 6-2 win over the Yankees.
Fox wasn't in the Orioles' plans at the start of the spring, but he's done everything he can to win a job. The good news is that he's out of options, so even if the Orioles don't find room for him, he figures to have a spot on some team's roster. The Orioles could keep him as Matt Wieters' backup, though they were planning on going with Craig Tatum, or they could try to squeeze him on the roster as a reserve first baseman and DH.
