Wed Dec 18 201313:50Report: Indians acquire Outman for Stubbs
The Indians will receive left-hander Josh Outman from the Rockies in exchange for Drew Stubbs, reports the Denver Post's Troy Renck.
This is a trade of inconveniences, as Cleveland signed David Murphy to replace Stubbs, and Colorado signed Boone Logan to replace Outman. Some writers objected to both signings under the premise that the deposed were better players than their respective teams gave them credit for being. Now, they've been swapped for each other, giving both an opportunity at small-scale vengeance. The 29-year-old Outman posted a 4.33 ERA and 1.46 WHIP over 61 relief appearances in 2013. Those numbers aren't relevant to Cleveland. These are: Outman was flogged by right-handed hitters to the tune of an .883 OPS this past season, but the southpaw held left-handed swingers to an awful .198/.278/.261 slash line. He'll replace Rich Hill as Cleveland's LOOGY.
