Donnell caught six of his seven targets for 35 yards and the game-winning touchdown.
Donnell hauled in a high pass in traffic and held onto the ball all the way to the ground as he was hit by two defenders. It was a big trust-building play for Donnell, though the Giants like to spread the ball around, and his upside is probably modest in this offense.

Donnell hauled in five passes off of seven targets for 38 yards in Sunday's win over Buffalo.
Donnell ranks second on the team in both targets and receptions through the first quarter of the season. His 15 catches are the 11th most among NFL tight ends. Eli Manning has long built a strong rapport with his tight ends and the position is readily featured in Ben McAdoo's version of the West Coast Offense. Whether his role in the offense stays as prominent as it has will warrant monitoring once Victor Cruz returns to the lineup.

Donnell had three catches for 32 yards on six targets but also had two costly drops.
Aside from a three-touchdown game last season, Donnell's 19-game stint as a starter has been unremarkable.
Mon Sep 21 201501:23Donnell caught four of six targets for 28 yards and touchdown
Donnell caught four of his six targets for 28 yards and a touchdown.
He'll be in the mix most weeks, and he'll see some red-zone looks, but the tight end typically isn't a major part of the Giants offense.
Mon Sep 14 201501:44Donnell caught three of four targets for 21 yards Sunday night
Donnell caught three of four targets for 21 yards Sunday night.
Fellow tight end Daniel Fells also caught three of four targets. Donnell is still the team's starter, but it's hard to see him having a big role on a regular basis.

Donnell (Achilles) had three receptions for 29 yards on five targets in Saturday's preseason game against the Jaguars.
Donnell got significant work with both the first and second-team offenses, playing deep into the second quarter. He's listed behind Daniel Fells on the unofficial preseason depth chart, but Donnell got the start in Saturday's game and will likely get the nod in Week 1. Although he put up a respectable 63-623-6 receiving line last season, Donnell managed just two touchdowns and one showing of 60-plus yards after Week 4. He also lost four fumbles and struggled as a run blocker.
Tue Aug 11 201501:14Donnell listed behind Daniel Fells on team's latest depth chart
Donnell is listed behind Daniel Fells on the team's latest depth chart.
We wouldn't be overly concerned as Donnell's been slowed by an Achilles' injury this spring. Once Donnell's up to speed, he's likely to be the team's primary target at the position.
Fri Aug 7 201502:39Donnell making progress
After starting training camp slowly because of an Achilles problem that had him in a boot this spring, Donnell has been making progress, the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Barring a setback, we'd expect Donnell to be ready to go for the start of the season.

Donnell, who was in a walking boot with an Achilles injury in the spring, didn't take many snaps during the team portion of practice Sunday, the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Donnell will be brought along slowly this summer, but should be ready for the start of the season. If he's not, it's unclear which Giants tight end would start in his place or whether any of the candidates - Adrien Robinson, Daniel Fells and Jerome Cunningham - would have a significant role in the offense.

Donnell (Achilles) is participating in team drills at training camp Friday, ESPN.com's Dan Graziano reports.
Donnell, who missed mandatory June minicamp because of tendinitis in his Achilles, was never expected to miss training camp. This is still a situation worth watching, as the tight end recently mentioned that he dealt with a similar issue in college. If the Achilles starts to bother him again, it may just be a lingering issue that he'll have to deal with throughout the season.

NJ.com's Jordan Raanan relays that Donnell (Achilles') is no longer sporting a walking boot.
Raanan's report encouragingly notes that the tight end has been training in Alabama of late, while adding that he's expected to participate in training camp practices this coming week. That said, it's unclear if Donnell will be full-go out of the gate. Assuming no further setbacks with his Achilles' issue -- an "old college injury that resurfaced" -- Donnell should continue to provide the Giants with a viable red zone target at the tight end position following a 2014 season that saw him catch 63 passes for 623 yards and six touchdowns.
Wed Jun 17 201518:32Donnell remained sidelined Tuesday due to Achilles' issue
Donnell remained sidelined Tuesday due to an Achilles' issue, ESPN.com reports.
While a timetable for Donnell's return to the field has not yet been established, the tight end -- who partially tore his Achilles in college -- continues to sport a walking boot. In his absence, the likes of Daniel Fells, Jerome Cunningham and Will Tye are seeing added tight end reps for the Giants in practice. When healthy, Donnell is on the fantasy radar in deeper formats, on the heels of a 2014 campaign in which he caught 63 passes for 623 yards and six touchdowns.
Mon Jun 1 201514:34Donnell missed Monday's workout due to tendinitis in Achilles
Donnell missed Monday's workout due to tendinitis in his Achilles, the New York Daily News reports.
Donnell was seen sporting a walking boot at Monday's practice, but maintains that his tendinitis stems from a partial tear suffered in college. As a result, Donnell is used to dealing with concessional soreness and expects to be relatively fine moving forward.
Mon Jun 1 201513:02Donnell sat out Monday's workout due to foot or leg injury
Donnell sat out Monday's workout due to a foot or leg injury, nj.com reports.
Donnell, who had participated in last weeks OTAs, was spotted on the sideline Monday with a boot on his left ankle/foot. At this stage, however, it's unclear how long the issue will sideline the tight end. The 26-year-old recorded 63 catches for 623 yards and six TDs in 16 games for the Giants last season.

Donnell suffered a right ankle injury in the second half of Sunday's game against the Eagles and will not return, ESPN.com's Dan Graziano reports.
Donnell attempted to play with a large wrap on his ankle, but he was noticeably slowed and eventually came out of the game. He finished with two catches for 26 yards.
Sun Dec 21 201422:25Donnell had four catches for 42 yards in Sunday's win over Rams
Donnell had four catches for 42 yards in Sunday's win over the Rams.
Despite a very strong passing day from Eli Manning, Donnell didn't have much success. He has now gone five straight games without a touchdown.

Donnell caught five of his seven targets for 55 yards Sunday, but lost a fumble that was returned for a touchdown.
Donnell also had a critical fumbles in the first meeting with the Cowboys. The Giants don't have a lot of receiving depth, so he could continue to see targets, but beyond Odell Beckham all bets are off for the collapsing Giants at this point.

Donnell had three catches on six targets for 54 yards and a touchdown Sunday against the 49ers.
Quarterback Eli Manning threw 28 times to starting wideouts Rueben Randle and Odell Beckham, but it was Donnell who caught his lone-touchdown pass, his second score in the last three games. Despite getting a decent number of targets (20 in the last three games), Donnell continues to be heavily dependent on touchdowns to make a significant fantasy impact.
Tue Nov 4 201400:51Donnell caught 4-of-8 targets for 25 yards and touchdown
Donnell caught 4-of-8 targets for 25 yards and a touchdown.
Donnell saved a disappointing fantasy night with a fairly meaningless five-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. Between that score and his 90-yard showing in the previous game, Donnell has bounced back for owners over the last few weeks, though his stock is still down considerably from where it was earlier this season. He hasn't looked especially good since Week 4, recording a 12-121-1 receiving line over the last four games. That said, the Giants still have to give the ball to someone, and only Odell Beckham has impressed in recent weeks. Donnell should continue to see a decent number of targets on a weekly basis, but he's not the safe option that we saw from Weeks 1-4.

Donnell had a productive game in Sunday's loss at Dallas, catching seven passes for 90 yards, although he lost two fumbles.
Since a three-touchdown game at Washington in Week 4, Donnell had done very little. That changed Sunday, as he returned as one of Eli Manning's top targets, which could coincide with the season-ending injury to Victor Cruz. Not to excuse Donnell's second fumble, but it came in the final minute of the game with the Giants trailing by 10 points. The Giants are on bye next week, so Donnell will look to keep things going against Indianapolis in Week 9.
