Herrera (knee) is unlikely to play again in 2015, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Herrera had been serving as the regular third baseman following the departure of Aramis Ramirez to Pittsburgh, but has now been out of action for 10 straight contests. The 30-year-old utility man can now turn his focus to recovery in an effort to put himself in a position to earn a roster spot in the 2016 season.

Herrera (knee) remains out of the lineup Wednesday against the Padres.

The Brewers have not elaborated much on Herrera's knee injury. He has not appeared in any of the team's last nine games, and it's uncertain if the 30-year-old will make it back onto the field this season.

Considering he had to be taken off the field on a cart, it's not a huge surprise that he's not in Sunday's lineup. He's expected to miss at least a few days because of the issue, but it wouldn't be a shock if he misses more than that.

That's terrific news considering Herrera had to be taken off the field on an ambulance cart. Early reports suggest he may have suffered a deep knee contusion, however further testing will probably provide a more conclusive result. Either way, it's unlikely Herrera will take the field anytime soon and with multiple Brewers suffering injuries during Saturday's game, it's unclear who might be called up to replace him.

Peterson's knee crashed into Herrera as the two players were attempting to run down a bloop fly ball near the foul line, prompting both players to leave the game due to injury. Herrera was transported on a back board and taken to an ambulance cart. Hernan Perez replaced Herrera at third base. More information should be available after the game.

Herrera is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Pirates.

Herrera will get a day off Saturday for the first time since Aug. 12. He has split his playing time between second base and third base, but the Brewers will use Luis Sardinas and Hernan Perez, respectively, at those two positions Saturday.

Herrera went 2-for-5 Saturday with a double, two runs scored, two RBI and his sixth home run of the season.

He's been on an extra-base tear over his last 10 games, hitting .270 (10-for-37) with seven doubles and the homer. Herrera's only hitting .240/.290/.405 on the year, but as long as he's stinging the ball he'll have a spot in the Brewers' regular lineup.

Herrera will enter the starting lineup for a fourth straight game Sunday against the Phillies.

As a 30-year-old journeyman with a .278 on-base percentage on the season, Herrera is just a stopgap solution at third base for the rest of the season following the Brewers' pre-deadline trade of Aramis Ramirez. Manager Craig Counsell will likely opt to ride the hotter bat between him and Hernan Perez, but neither profiles as an interesting fantasy option outside of NL-only formats.

Herrera went 1-for-3 with a home run in Sunday's victory over the Cardinals.

The solo blast opened up the scoring and was his fifth of the season. The 30-year-old is hitting for a .230/.284/.385 slash line and despite a good series against the Cardinals, where he went 4-for-9, he will continue to see playing time come in fits and starts.

Herrera will be called up from Triple-A Colorado Springs on Friday.

A .249/.304/.343 career hitter at the major league level, he has hit .357/.413/.490 in 56 games with Colorado Springs so far this year. Herrera will come up with Carlos Gomez and Mike Fiers traded to Houston, but he may serve merely in a reserve role even if Gerardo Parra is also moved prior to Friday's deadline.

Herrera was sent outright to Triple-A Colorado Springs on Thursday.

Designated for assignment earlier in the week, the 30-year-old Herrera unsurprisingly cleared waivers. He's done well in his limited time at Triple-A Colorado Springs but owns a .212/.259/.374 slash line through 108 plate appearances with the Brewers. He'll likely be back in the majors at some point this season to provide depth at multiple positions.

Herrera was designated for assignment Tuesday.

Herrera has seen his playing time dwindle of late, and he'll now be subject to waivers with Triple-A Colorado Springs as his likely landing spot. In a corresponding move, the Brewers claimed struggling utility man Hernan Perez off waivers from Detroit.

Herrera is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Giants.

This marks Herrera's third absence from the lineup in the past five games, with Luis Sardinas and Hector Gomez again holding down the middle infield. Herrera and Gomez will likely continue to split at-bats, but Scooter Gennett figures to eventually rejoin the big-league squad.

Herrera is out of the lineup Friday.

Hector Gomez and Herrera are in what amounts to a 50-50 split at second base with Scooter Gennett at Triple-A Colorado Springs. Herrera is hitting just .219 and is a bottom tier middle infield option in most formats.

Herrera and Gomez shared the second base duties when Gennett was on the disabled list earlier in the season, and they will likely do so again with Gennett now in the minors. Herrera's ability to hit from both sides of the plate gives him a leg up over Gomez, but neither player is hitting particularly well, and both can play other positions, so expect the two to rotate the starts at the keystone rather than form a hard platoon.
