OF Andrew Lambo, who has played most of this season for the Oakland's Triple-A team in Nashville, underwent surgery Friday for testicular cancer, the A's announced Tuesday. "Thank you everyone for the prayers and support," Lambo tweeted Tuesday. "I'm truly blessed to have soo much love. I'm going to beat this and be back on the diamond." The A's claimed Lambo off waivers from Pittsburgh on Nov. 6. He hit two homers and had five RBIs during spring training and had one at-bat with the A's, going 0-for-1 on April 7 against the White Sox. "He's a pretty gregarious guy, fits in well in the clubhouse," A's manager Bob Melvin said. "At some point in time we figured we'd see him this year, but right now this is what he's got going on and it's a lot more important than that. So we got our fingers crossed. Thoughts and prayers with him."

Lambo (foot) experienced a setback in his rehab and will be shut down an additional three weeks, Rob Biertempfel of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
Lambo was set to begin a rehab assignment with the Pirates' rookie-level club this past week, but that never materialized after his plantar fasciitis flared up again. The issue has sidelined Lambo since early May, and now that he's suffered another setback, it's beginning to look doubtful that he'll be back in action at all this season. The Pirates have given Lambo some anti-inflammatory medicine to address the issue, but he'll still be kept out of baseball activity until at least mid-August, with the hope the time off permanently resolves things.

Lambo (foot) is starting a rehab assignment with the Pirates' rookie-level affiliate.
Lambo has been on the disabled list since early May, so his rehab assignment will likely be a lengthy one. There's no guarantee he rejoins the big-league club when he's ready, and even if he does, he'll likely be stuck with a bench role.
Fri Jun 26 201517:54Lambo (foot) transferred to 60-day DL on Friday
Lambo (foot) was transferred to the 60-day DL on Friday, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Paul Zeise reports.
The move allowed the Pirates to add reliever Deolis Guerra to the 40-man roster, but does not change Lambo's timetable, as he was placed on the DL 51 days prior to this roster move. Look for Lambo to return sometime in the second half of the season.
Sun May 24 201510:05Lambo (plantar fasciitis) still not close to returning
Lambo (plantar fasciitis), who has been rehabbing at Pirate City, is still not close to returning, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Manager Clint Hurdle gave little indication about when Lambo might come off the disabled list. "He is still not showing the signs of improvement and progress to get him into any type of game," Hurdle said. Lambo had just one hit in 25 at-bats in a pinch-hitting role for Pittsburgh prior to going on the DL.

Lambo (foot) was placed on the 15-day DL on Wednesday, Bill Brink of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Lambo has been dealing with plantar fasciitis in his left foot, and he'll miss at least the minimum 15 days with the ailment. He hasn't gotten much playing time this season, but has struggled mightily when he has as the lefty is just 1-for-25. Steve Lombardozzi was called up in a corresponding move to take his roster spot.

Lambo has one hit in 26 at-bats and has played sparingly in the field thus far in 2015.
The Pirates have given more opportunity to Sean Rodriguez as a fourth outfielder in the outfield -- Lambo is 1-for-11 with two walks as a pinch-hitter. Despite stinging the ball on numerous occasions, Lambo has little to show for his efforts and could be the odd man out whenever the team decides to make a move.

Lambo will start in right field and bat second Monday against the Cubs.
Lambo has just one hit in 17 at-bats, but has centered the ball well. He could easily have six or seven hits, as noted by GM Neal Huntington during his Sunday radio show.

Lambo will start in right field and hit second in Thursday's game against the Cubs.
Lambo will start for just the second time this season with Andrew McCutchen getting a day off and Starling Marte out with a hand injury. Lambo is 0-for-12 this season, but there's a good chance he will have at least four opportunities to pick up his first hit of the season batting out of the two hole Thursday.

Lambo has made the Pirates' Opening Day roster, Travis Sawchik of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
A late charge by Pedro Florimon wasn't enough to wrestle the final bench spot away from Lambo. He's expected to serve as the team's left-handed bat off the bench.

Lambo went 0-for-4 against Toronto on Saturday and is now batting .182 as he battles Jaff Decker for the last bench spot in Pittsburgh.
Manager Clint Hurdle has pointed out Lambo's increased self-assurance during spring training, but the numbers still aren't there. Lambo offers better pop than Decker and can play first base in addition to the outfield, but Decker is the better outfielder, defensively.

With just six hits in 35 at-bats, Lambo has struggled for the second consecutive spring training.
Normally, Grapefruit League action means little, but Lambo lost a starting first baseman's gig last season with a terrible spring training showing. He hasn't been much better this time around. A change of scenery might best jumpstart his career at this point. He has hit well in the minors, compiling a .328/.389/.563 Triple-A line in 2014.

Lambo's chances of breaking spring training with the Bucs somewhat increased following the trade of fellow outfielder, Travis Snider.
The organization seemed to sour on Lambo in 2014, recalling inferior options over the lefty, but he put up strong minor-league numbers -- .312/.386/.536 in 263 AB -- and is still just 26 years of age. Lambo will likely either stick with the Pirates or move on to another organization in 2015. Pittsburgh doesn't seem to consider first base an option for the eighth-year minor leaguer.

Lambo made his major league debut at first base Sunday, going 0-for-2 with a strikeout before being lifted for a pinch hitter.
The Pirates gave Lambo a shot at first, bypassing fellow lefty Ike Davis for a day. The results weren't particularly encouraging, but Lambo was the final link on the Bucs' first triple play in Pittsburgh since 1993. The team auditioned Lambo at first base during spring training, but the former Dodgers farm hand failed in his bid to make the team.
