Fri Aug 5 202211:47Dee Strange-Gordon Released By Nationals
Washington Nationals infielder/outfielder Dee Strange-Gordon has been released by the organization. He re-signed with the organization in mid-July after being cut by the team in June. He' has hit .308/.305/.356 with two home runs and three stolen bases in 23 games this season. He might be able to help a contending team off the bench with his speed and defensive versatility. It make sense that the rebuilding Nationals would move forward without Gordon. However, a competitive team might be able to find a spot for the veteran speedster. Fantasy managers can ignore Gordon until further notice.

Mon Jun 6 202214:26Dee Strange-Gordon Activated On Monday
Washington Nationals infielder Dee Strange-Gordon has been activated off the paternity leave list on Monday. Gordon has missed each of the last three games, but will return ahead of Tuesday's game against the Miami Marlins. This season, Gordon is hitting .293/.293/.345 with three RBI and two steals. The veteran utility man should resume his role in Washington, but can remain ignored in basically all fantasy formats.

Thu Apr 14 202218:21Dee Strange-Gordon Scratched From Lineup, Lane Thomas Starting
Washington Nationals outfielder Dee Strange-Gordon has been scratched from the lineup Thursday with an unspecified injury, according to Jesse Dougherty. Lane Thomas will get the start in center field and bat eighth versus Pirates right-hander J.T. Brubaker. Dougherty also reports that outfielder Donovan Casey is heading to Washington from Triple-A Rochester, so it seems likely Strange-Gordon could be heading to the injured list. Thomas has just three hits in 21 at bats so far this season and has just a .190 on-base percentage while sporting a 38% strikeout rate. He's not a recommended fantasy option at the moment.

Wed Apr 21 202114:50Brewers sign Strange-Gordon to minor league contract
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Former All-Star Dee Strange-Gordon has signed a minor league contract with the Milwaukee Brewers and been assigned to the alternate training site in Appleton, Wisconsin. Strange-Gordon, who turns 33 on Thursday, had gone to spring training with the Cincinnati Reds with a minor league contract and was released on March 26 after hitting .281 with no homers and four RBIs in 32 at-bats over 10 games. He had been working out at shortstop with the Reds. Strange-Gordon has primarily played second base and also has experience in the outfield. The Brewers wanted to address some depth concerns in the infield after trading Orlando Arcia to the Atlanta Braves this month and losing Tim Lopes and Mark Mathias to injuries in spring training. Lopes and Mathias are both on the 60-day injured list. “This is a signing that’s just about depth, I think,” Brewers manager Craig Counsell said Wednesday. “And I think about the trade of Orlando, really. He’s another infielder. He’s an infielder... [More]

Fri Mar 26 202114:34Reds release former NL batting champ Strange-Gordon
GOODYEAR, Arizona (AP) — The Cincinnati Reds on Friday released Dee Strange-Gordon, a non-roster invitee to spring training who auditioned at shortstop. Strange-Gordon, a 32-year-old former All-Star and NL batting champ, got a shot with Cincinnati after Freddy Galvis signed as a free agent with the Baltimore Orioles. But his chances were hurt by the team’s decision to move Eugenio Suarez from third base to shortstop, and also by good spring performances from versatile infielders Jonathan India and Alex Blandino. Strange-Gordon, who spent the last three, mostly injury-plagued seasons with Seattle, hit .281 in 12 spring training games with four RBIs and four stolen bases. He would have received a $1 million salary in the major leagues if added to the 40-man roster and the chance to earn $600,000 in performance bonuses for games played. Strange-Gordon won the league batting title in 2015 as the Marlins second baseman and was a two-time All Star. ___ More AP MLB: https://apnews.com/hub/MLB and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports ___ Follow Mitch Stacy at http://twitter.com/mitchstacy

Tue Feb 9 202100:16Cincinnati Reds add Sean Doolittle, Dee Strange-Gordon
CINCINNATI (AP) — Left-hander Sean Doolittle and the Cincinnati Reds finalized a $1.5 million, one-year contract on Monday, a deal that allowed him to earn an additional $2.1 million in performance bonuses. Cincinnati also announced a minor league deal with infielder Dee Strange-Gordon, who will report to big league spring training. Doolittle, 34, had been with Washington since July 2017 and helped the Nationals win their first World Series title in 2019. He can earn $1.6 million in bonuses for games pitched: $100,000 each for 10 and every additional four through 34, $125,000 apiece for 38, 42, 46 and 50, and $200,000 each for 55 and 60. He also can earn $500,000 for games finished: $100,000 each for 20 and every additional five through 40. The two-time All-Star was 0-2 with a 5.87 ERA in 7 2/3 innings over 11 relief appearances during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season. He earned $2,407,407 in prorated pay from a $6.5 million salary last year in the second option year of a contract that originally guaranteed $10.5 million from 2014-18. Strange-Gordon, 32, spent the past three seasons with Seattle and hit .200 with three RBIs in 75 at-bats over 33 games last year. A three-time stolen base champion, he swiped just three in five tries. Strange-Gordon became a free agent when Seattle chose to pay a $1 million buyout rather than exercise a $14 million option for 2021. ___ More AP MLB: https://apnews.com/MLB and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports
