Furcal appeared in just nine major league games since 2012 as he attempted to work his way back this season within the Royals organization, but will end his quest after just three games at the Double-A level. He'll end his career as a .281 hitter with 314 stolen bases and a world series ring from his 2011 campaign with the Cardinals.

Furcal actually tore part of his left hamstring muscle behind the knee, so it's not your garden variety hamstring strain. "He's done for quite a bit of time," Redmond said. "I'm not sure how long. ... It's a significant amount of time." Furcal has been limited to just nine games this season due to leg issues and it sounds like he won't be back until well into the second half, if he returns at all.
