Fri Mar 18 201115:55Yanks' Belliard goes hitless in loss
Ronnie Belliard went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts on Friday and is 1-for-12 this spring.
Belliard missed time with a calf strain and hasn't produced in limited playing time, so it seems doubtful that he'll make the Yankees. He'd be a nice insurance policy if he's willing to report to Triple-A.

Ronnie Belliard will miss the next 10 days of camp due to a strain in his calf.
That is going to seriously hurt his chances of making the Yankees' big league roster, if he ever had a hope in the first place. Belliard inked a minor league contract with New York this winter and will probably have to settle for an assignment to Triple-A when camp breaks.

Sun Feb 20 201110:10Ronnie Belliard could see time at 1B
Yankees manager Joe Girardi could give Ronnie Belliard some reps at first base this spring.
The Yankees have Nick Swisher around as a backup to Mark Teixeira, but Girardi would prefer to leave Swisher in right field. Belliard has played 67 games at first over the last four seasons, so it's not as if it would be foreign territory for him. Jorge Posada and Eric Chavez are also available to fill in at first base if needed.

Thu Apr 8 201016:00Dodgers' Belliard a single shy of the cycle
Ronnie Belliard missed a cycle by a single and drove in four runs to lead the Dodgers to a 10-2 win over the Pirates on Thursday.
After losing the first two games of the series, Dodgers manager Joe Torre emptied his bench today and gave Belliard, Reed Johnson, Garret Anderson, Jamey Carroll and Brad Ausmus their first starts versus Paul Maholm. The offense responded with 10 runs, with Belliard and Johnson leading the way. Belliard needs to be in the lineup against most lefties, whether it's in place of Blake DeWitt or James Loney.
