Fri Feb 1 201309:31Charlie Haeger re-signs with Red Sox
Red Sox re-signed RHP Charlie Haeger to a minor league contract.
Haeger missed all of 2012 due to an elbow injury. The knuckleballer posted a 5.44 ERA over 17 Triple-A starts between the Red Sox and Mariners in 2011. He's just organizational filler.

Sun Feb 5 201217:39Haeger (elbow) to miss entire 2012 season
Charlie Haeger will miss the 2012 season after he "ripped up" his elbow while playing soft-toss this winter, according to the Boston Globe.
The knuckleballer was set to participate in Boston's minor league camp this spring but will instead begin a long process of rehabbing. Haeger was released by the Mariners in July after posting a 7.74 ERA in nine starts at Triple-A, but closed the year by going 4-1 with a 3.24 ERA in eight starts for Boston's Double-A affiliate. The odds of him ever getting back to the big leagues are slim.

Sat Jul 16 201123:03Mariners released knuckleballer Haeger
Mariners released RHP Charlie Haeger.
Haeger posted a pitiful 7.74 ERA and 35/42 K/BB ratio this season for Tacoma. The knuckleballer might get picked up somewhere else, but we would be shocked to see him back in a major league uniform anytime soon.

Wed Nov 24 201015:11M's ink knuckleballer to minor league deal
Mariners signed RHP Charlie Haeger to a minor league deal.
The knuckleballer is coming off a putrid season that saw him post a 8.40 ERA and 2.07 WHIP in 30 innings for the Dodgers and a 5.70 ERA and 1.62 WHIP in 53 2/3 innings for Triple-A Albuquerque. The 27-year-old at one point looked like a possible back-of-the-rotation starter, but he won't be making an impact in 2011.
Wed Jun 30 201019:16Dodgers outright Charlie Haeger to Triple-A
Dodgers sent RHP Charlie Haeger outright to Triple-A Albuquerque.
The 26-year-old knuckleballer was designated for assignment last week after rattling off an 8.40 ERA and a 2.07 WHIP in six starts and three relief appearances. As expected, he drew little interest from other teams.
Fri Jun 25 201021:01Dodgers designate Haeger for assignment
Dodgers designated RHP Charlie Haeger for assignment.
Haeger gave up four runs over 4 2/3 innings against the Angels on Thursday night and has an 8.40 ERA and 2.07 WHIP over six starts and three relief appearances this season. Bottom line, the Dodgers should be able to do better than this.
Fri Jun 25 201002:38Dodgers' Haeger ineffective in return
Knuckleballer Charlie Harger gave up four runs in 4 2/3 innings Thursday against the Angels in his return from the DL.
The best that can be said is that he kept the Dodgers in the game. Haeger is 0-4 with an 8.40 ERA in six starts and three relief appearances this season. That he's out of options is the main reason he's still on the roster.
Tue Jun 22 201021:29Haeger to start for Dodgers on Thursday
Charlie Haeger will be recalled from the minors to start against the Angels on Thursday.
Get excited? The Dodgers were apparently choosing between Haeger and Claudio Vargas for the assignment, but Joe Torre has decided to go with the knuckleballer. Heager has an 8.49 over five starts and two relief appearances this season. He isn't a recommended option in fantasy leagues.

Charlie Haeger allowed four runs in two innings Saturday during a rehab start for Single-A Inland Empire.
That's right, Haeger was lit up by a pack of Single-A ballplayers. He allowed four hits, one walk, and registered only a single strikeout. The knuckleballer posted an 8.49 ERA over his first seven outings (five starts) this season and won't be brought back to the majors anytime soon.

Mon Jun 7 201019:09Dodgers place Haeger on DL
Dodgers activated RHP Charlie Haeger from the 15-day disabled list.
It (apparently) didn't take long for his previous injury to flare up, as Haeger was just activated from the disabled list last Thursday. He gave up two runs over two innings Saturday in his only appearance since coming off the disabled list.
Thu Jun 3 201019:19Dodgers activate Haeger from disabled list
Dodgers activated RHP Charlie Haeger from the 15-day disabled list.
Haeger was placed on the DL on May 10 with a foot injury, but mostly because he had opened the season with an 8.49 ERA through his first seven outings (five starts). Let's hope he's not given another crack in the starting rotation. If so, avoid him in all fantasy formats.
Wed May 19 201018:08Haeger to make 2nd rehab start on Wednesday
Charlie Haeger (foot) is set to make a second minor league rehab start Wednesday for Single-A Inland Empire.
Haeger is on the disabled list with plantar fasciitis in his right foot and is eligible to return in about a week. Whether he will be allowed back in to the Dodgers' rotation, though, remains to be seen. The knuckleballer had an 8.49 ERA and an 0-4 record in seven appearances (five starts) before the injury and John Ely is doing quite well as his replacement.

Sat May 15 201021:46Haeger to make first rehab start Saturday
Charlie Haeger (foot) is scheduled to make a rehab start for Single-A Inland Empire on Saturday night.
Haeger was placed on the disabled list five days ago with plantar fasciitis in his right foot. He has recovered quickly, though, and should be ready to rejoin the Dodgers on the first day the he is eligible. Of course, the knuckleballer might not be activated right away because he was so ineffective in his last few starts and John Ely is doing quite well as his replacement.

Mon May 10 201017:53Dodgers place Haeger (foot) on DL
Dodgers placed RHP Charlie Haeger with plantar fasciitis in his right foot.
The convenient injury allows John Ely to return from Triple-A. Haeger failed to record an out during his outing against the Rockies on Saturday and owns an 8.49 ERA through seven appearances (five starts).

Mon May 10 201009:23Charlie Haeger could hit DL with sore heel
Dodgers manager Joe Torre hinted Sunday that knuckleballer Charlie Haeger could land on the 15-day disabled list with a heel issue.
Haeger later confirmed that the heel he uses to push off the pitching rubber is "sore, tight" and a "recurring issue." He was knocked around for five runs without recording an out in his last start, Saturday against the Rockies, and probably won't make an appearance this week. His spot could go to rookie John Ely, who was unfairly optioned to Triple-A a few days ago.

Sun May 9 201002:56Dodgers' Haeger pulled without getting an out
Charlie Haeger never recorded an out and was charged with five runs Saturday in his start against the Rockies.
Haeger walked three and gave up hits to the other two batters he faced before being replaced by Ramon Ortiz. Ortiz was able to save the bullpen by going five, but Haeger still might lose his job so that the Dodgers can bring in a fresh arm. John Ely is the better rotation option anyway.
Tue Apr 27 201023:05Haeger falls to 0-3 in loss to Mets
Charlie Haeger was tagged for five runs over four innings in a 10-5 loss to the Mets on Tuesday night.
Haeger dropped to 0-3 on the year. He gave up a three-spot in the first and was chased after walking consecutive batters to begin the fifth. Ramon Troncoso allowed both inherited runners to score. The knuckleballer has an 8/12 K/BB ratio in his last four starts since his 12-strikeout performance against the Marlins on April 11. Dodgers manager Joe Torre may have no choice but to keep using him, but he should be avoided in all formats.
Fri Apr 23 201021:57Haeger takes the loss in Washington
Charlie Haeger yielded four runs -- three earned -- in 5 1/3 innings of work during Friday's loss to the Nationals.
Starters shouldn't be surprised at all by this Nationals lineup. It's tough to handle, and Haeger ended up throwing 110 pitches in his 5 1/3 innings tonight. He's not even worth consideration in NL only formats.
