After being cut by the Blue Jays in early March, Perez was unable to catch on with another team during the 2014 season.
Perez had a 3.69 ERA in 19 appearances with the Blue Jays in 2013, but apparently no one is interested in a mediocre LOOGY who opted for rehab instead of the Tommy John surgery recommended to him last year.
Sun Sep 21 201414:08Perez out of lineup Sunday against Padres
Perez is out of the lineup Sunday against the Padres, MLB.com's Chris Haft reports.
Perez has started four of the last five games in center field while Angel Pagan has been nursing a back injury, but he'll take a seat for the Sunday afternoon contest. Gregor Blanco will move over to cover center, with Chris Dominguez receiving the surprise start in left. Perez is likely to eventually be phased out of the mix once Pagan and Mike Morse (oblique) are back to full strength, but with question marks surrounding both of those options, Perez should see steady reps for the remainder of the regular season.

Blue Jays sent LHP Juan Perez outright to Triple-A Buffalo.
Perez declared for free agency. The left-hander has actually been productive in an extremely limited sample size over the past three seasons, posting a 3.92 ERA and 1.33 WHIP over 43 2/3 innings for three different organizations (Philadelphia, Milwaukee and Toronto). He'll find a new team with whom he'll attempt to crack a bullpen in spring training. At age 35, Perez will have to settle for a minor league deal and likely hang around on the farm again until injuries hit the big league squad.
