Tue Sep 15 201516:30Brown released by Bills on Tuesday
Brown was released by the Bills on Tuesday, Mike Rodak of ESPN reports.
Brown was inactive for Sunday's opener against the Colts, as the Bills have a healthy stable of running backs in LeSean McCoy, Anthony Dixon and Karlos Williams. Brown has an impressive size-speed combination, and he put together a couple of big games behind a great offensive line a few years ago, but he's still just a borderline NFL talent. His vision, pass-blocking, elusiveness and ball security are all problematic.

Brown (hamstring) is listed as the Bills' fourth running back on the latest depth chart, Mike Rodak of ESPN reports.
Brown has been nagged by a hamstring of late, but he played in Thursday's final preseason game, logging nine carries for 37 yards. The Bills are listing him behind LeSean McCoy, Karlos Williams and Anthony Dixon, however, and at this point he does not have a clear path to consistent snaps. That said, the depth behind McCoy is fairly thin, so it wouldn't be a surprise if Brown works his way into the backfield rotation as the season progresses.

Brown (hamstring) played into the second half of Thursday's preseason game against the Lions, finishing with 37 yards on nine carries.
Brown also caught two of his three targets, albeit for a loss of one yard. The Bills' recent decision to release Fred Jackson should assure him of a roster spot, but Brown's usage in Thursday's game suggests that he's not really in the mix for the No. 2 running back role, unless he's the only healthy option for Week 1. Karlos Williams (undisclosed) and/or Anthony Dixon (calf) will likely serve as LeSean McCoy's top backup(s).

The Bills cut Brown's teammate Fred Jackson on Monday.
This makes it almost a sure thing that Brown - previously thought to be in Rex Ryan's doghouse due to fumbling issues - will make the team. Unless the Bills bring in someone new, he'll compete for the No. 2 running back role behind LeSean McCoy.

Brown (hamstring) is inactive for Saturday's preseason game.
Brown has progressed to participating in individual drills after injuring his hamstring in mid-August, but the Bills will take the cautious route and hold him out of their third preseason game Saturday. The Bills are also resting LeSean McCoy, Karlos Williams, and Boobie Dixon among the running backs, leaving Fred Jackson and Cierre Wood to get a good chunk of the carries.

Brown (hamstring) took part in individual drills during Thursday's practice, wgr550.com reports.
The same applies to Anthony Dixon, with both backs looking to re-establish their slotting behind the Bills' top back LeSean McCoy (hamstring), who worked on the side during Thursday's session.
Sun Aug 16 201512:32Brown dealing with minor hamstring injury
Brown is dealing with a minor hamstring injury, ESPN's Mike Rodak reports.
That the injury is considered minor is encouraging, with Brown currently jostling with Karlos Williams for depth slotting in the Bills' backfield.

Brown led the Bills with 52 yards and a touchdown on six carries in Friday's preseason loss to the Panthers. He also caught two passes for five yards.
With Fred Jackson and Anthony Dixon both still sidelined, Brown is in a battle with rookie Karlos Williams to be the next back in the pecking order, which would technically be the backup spot to LeSean McCoy until the other guys get healthy. Brown outperformed Williams (14-40-1) in this one.

Brown split time with Fred Jackson in the starting offense while LeSean McCoy was injured Wednesday, BuffaloBills.com reports.
McCoy returned quickly and resumed his usual place as the top dog Thursday, but the note to take away here is that Brown seems to be ahead of rookie Karlos Williams in the pecking order. If Anthony Dixon's calf injury lingers, Brown could head into the season as the team's No. 3 running back.
Wed May 27 201522:29Brown present for this week's OTA's
Brown, who did not participate in previous offseason workouts, has been present for this week's OTA's, The Buffalo News reports.
The coaching staff didn't seem too pleased with Brown a couple of weeks ago while coach Rex Ryan has also made comments about his past fumbling issues. At least he'll have a chance now to stake his claim for a spot in the pecking order behind LeSean McCoy, the clear-cut starter. Brown will spend the summer competing with veterans Fred Jackson and Anthony Dixon, as well as rookie Karlos Williams.
Tue May 19 201515:40Brown absent from Bills' voluntary workouts
Brown has been absent from the Bills' voluntary workouts, apparently due to a personal issue, The Buffalo News reports. Said running backs coach Anthony Lynn, "Bryce is doing what he has to do right now, taking care of his family in the offseason, but yes, it will set him back. I mean, he's five, six weeks behind everyone else. Once he gets here, it's going to be hard to slow down and catch him up. That's one of my biggest concerns, but, you know, he's got the playbook. Hopefully he's taking care of his business and hopefully he'll come in in great shape and we'll see what happens."
The new coaching staff hasn't sounded exactly thrilled with Brown so far, as coach Rex Ryan has already mentioned Browns' fumbling issues. And all that's after the Eagles didn't seem particularly interested in keeping Brown following the 2013 season. With the Bills adding Karlos Williams in the draft, and LeSean McCoy, Fred Jackson, and Anthony Dixon already on board, Brown may have some ground to make up to be part of the team's plans.

New coach Rex Ryan failed to mention Brown's name when discussing the Bills' running back situation at the NFL owners meeting in Phoenix this week until prompted, ESPN.com reports. Said Ryan, "With us, when we made the LeSean McCoy trade, with Fred Jackson and Boobie Dixon and, uh, the fast dude. Brown is it? I'm not gonna learn his name until he holds on to the football."
While many of Ryan's comments can be taking at a grain of salt outside of comedic purposes, fumbling issues have cropped up in Brown's brief NFL career, and he lost one last season that really cost the Bills in the playoff chase. With Fred Jackson being brought back and LeSean McCoy serving as the bell cow back, at best Brown will win the No. 3 running back job, and from the sound of things he may enter camp sitting fourth behind Dixon, who offers more versatility.

Brown is inactive for Sunday's game against the Raiders.
Brown is the odd man out in the Bills' Week 16 backfield, with C.J. Spiller in uniform for the team on Sunday.

Brown had three carries for 11 yards in Sunday's 26-10 win against Cleveland. He was not targeted a single time in the passing game.
Brown didn't get much work, with Fred Jackson and Boobie Dixon combining for 27 carries. He had been involved the last few games as a pass catcher, but Jackson is now healthy, so he took over that role again, catching 3-of-4 targets for 27 yards. It looks like Brown won't see a ton of work moving forward, unless Jackson or Dixon go down with an injury.
Tue Nov 25 201402:03Brown rushed six times for 20 yards in Monday's win over Jets
Brown rushed six times for 20 yards in Monday's win over the Jets. He was not targeted in the passing game.
Fred Jackson is back from a groin injury and was able to tote the mail 10 times Monday night. Brown will still work his way into the mix, but there's a big difference between sharing a full load with just one competitor (Anthony Dixon) vs. trying to get a few carries behind the No. 1 that Jackson is when he's healthy. As such, Brown is a high-risk play the rest of the way unless one of his teammates suffers an injury.

Brown caught 7-of-10 targets for 57 yards, with six carries for 14 yards in Thursday's 22-9 loss to the Dolphins.
With Fred Jackson (groin) inactive for a second time in the past three games, Brown got the start and a team-high 10 targets, while Anthony Dixon had 10 carries for 35 yards, with two catches for an additional 13 yards. Brown actually picked up decent yardage on a few of his carries, but he lost six yards on a 3rd-and-1, a situation that would normally call for Dixon. The Bills didn't run a single offensive play from inside the Miami five-yard line, so neither back got any goal-line carries. Brown now has 13 receptions over the last two games, and while his success may be a symptom of the Bills' inability to make big plays, he's still done a nice job as a receiver the last two weeks. Brown will likely have a role in the passing game even when Jackson's healthy, but the 23-year-old will be a less attractive option if the veteran can play in Week 12 against the Jets.

Brown is in line to start Thursday's game against the Dolphins, with Fred Jackson inactive.
Brown is slated to combo with Anthony Dixon on Thursday, with Brown thus meriting a Week 11 look, especially in PPR formats, after catching six passes for 65 yards this past Sunday against the Chiefs, to go along with his seven carries for 35 yards. That's a carry total Brown should exceed this week, given Jackson's absence and the resulting starting nod.
Thu Nov 13 201414:10Brown could see expanded role in Bills' Week 11 backfield
With Fred Jackson reportedly unlikely to play Thursday against the Dolphins, Brown could see an expanded role in the Bills' Week 11 backfield, ESPN.com reports.
In a scenario where Jackson is inactive, Brown would be in line to work in tandem with Anthony Dixon, with Brown representing an intriguing dart in PPR formats, after catching six passes for 65 yards this past Sunday against the Chiefs, while also carrying seven times for 35 yards in that contest.

Brown had seven carries for 35 rushing yards and caught six passes on seven targets for 65 receiving yards Sunday against the Dolphins, but he lost a costly fumble near the goal-line in the third quarter that went out of bounds for a safety.
Brown co-led the team in catches and led in receiving yards, but the fumble was an absolute killer in a game the Bills ended up losing by four. Anthony Dixon finished with nine carries for 62 yards, while Fred Jackson returned from his groin injury to total 49 yards on seven touches. If Jackson is able to get in a full practice next week, he will likely get a bigger workload in Week 11 against the Dolphins, a team that allowed 113 yards to the Bills back in Week 2, though 69 of them came from C.J. Spiller.
