Tue Aug 4 201510:30Belisario released at Triple-A Pawtucket on Tuesday
Belisario was released at Triple-A Pawtucket on Tuesday.
The reliever signed with the team last month after being DFA'd by the Rays, but he appeared in only a handful of games and was not overly effective. The 32-year-old should draw interest from other organizations, though he isn't likely to make an impact at the big league level in 2015.

Belisario has signed a minor league deal with the Red Sox on Thursday,Chris Cotillo of MLB Daily Dish reports.
It was already reported that Belisario would sign with the Red Sox, and now the deal has become official. He will provide the club with some organizational depth out of the bullpen, but could be recalled should an injury occur.
Sun Jul 12 201519:44Belisario signing with Red Sox
Belisario is signing with the Red Sox, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports.
Belisario was fairly awful with the Rays in 2015, throwing a 7.88 ERA in 8.0 innings and spending most of his time in Triple-A Durham, but he could still be an asset to a Boston bullpen in the bottom 10 of the majors in ERA and second-worst in FIP. He might land in Triple-A to begin, but it's likely he hits the majors before long.
Sat Jul 4 201515:46Belisario cleared waivers and elected free agency Saturday
Belisario cleared waivers and elected free agency Saturday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
After he was designated for assignment Tuesday, Belisario has opted to explore his options on the open market. The 32-year-old righty spent much of the season with Triple-A Durham, but in six appearances for the Rays, he struggled mightily to the tune of a 7.88 ERA, 1.50 WHIP, and 6:4 K:BB in eight innings. As a result, he'll likely have to accept a minor league deal.
Wed Jul 1 201500:03Belisario designated for assignment on Tuesday
Belisario was designated for assignment on Tuesday.
Belisario had a 9.45 ERA, so when it came time to find a spot on the 40-man roster, it made sense to designate him for assignment. Look for Belisario to clear waivers and report to Triple-A Durham.
Tue Jun 16 201522:59Belisario recalled by Rays on Tuesday
Belisario was recalled by the Rays on Tuesday, the Tampa Tribune's Roger Mooney reports.
The Rays had to recall Belisario by Wednesday otherwise he would have been released, due to an opt-out clause in his contract. Tampa Bay will see what they have in Belisario out of the bullpen, but he is unlikely to see many high leverage opportunities.
Mon Jun 15 201519:54Belisario exercised opt out at Triple-A Durham on Monday
Belisario exercised his opt out at Triple-A Durham on Monday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Belisario's decision to opt out of his deal means the Rays now have a decision of their own to make. The team has until Wednesday to recall Belisario to the majors, otherwise he'll be released. At this point, it's unclear which direction the Rays will go, but Belisario has 17 saves in 19 opportunities at Triple-A, so he may be worth a look at the major league level.
Wed Apr 15 201515:48Belisario (shoulder) assigned to Triple-A Durham on Wednesday
Belisario (shoulder) was assigned to Triple-A Durham on Wednesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Belisario had been in extended spring training as he rehabbed a fractured shoulder suffered in February, and appears to be about a week away from returning to game action. The 32-year-old wasn't expected to join the big league team upon his return, but he could earn the call up to the Rays' bullpen if he can prove he's healthy after spending some time in Triple-A.

Belisario (shoulder) will throw in an extended spring training game Monday, the Tampa Bay Times reports.
He appears to be a little over a week away from returning, but the Rays don't need to put him on the big league roster right away as he's under a minor league contract. Most likely, Belisario will spend time at Durham before he's considered for an opportunity in the Rays' bullpen.
Wed Apr 8 201518:32Belisario (shoulder) threw two-inning simulated game Tuesday
Belisario (shoulder) threw a two-inning simulated game Tuesday, the Tampa Bay Times reports.
He'll pitch in an extended spring training game Friday. Belisario is no lock to join the big club once he's healthy enough to pitch in regular games again, however, and the Rays' current bullpen depth may lead them to try and stash the veteran at Triple-A Durham.
Thu Mar 26 201517:32Belisario (shoulder) reassigned to minor league camp Thursday
Belisario (shoulder) was reassigned to minor league camp Thursday, Bill Chastain of MLB.com reports.
A non-roster invitee to camp, Belisario's chances of starting the year with the major league team took a big hit when he suffered a fractured shoulder shortly before the start of spring training. Apparently, he suffered the injury while getting out of a pool. Belisario was recently cleared to begin playing catch, but it's still uncertain when he may return to game action.
Thu Mar 19 201510:33Belisario (shoulder) cleared to play catch
Belisario (shoulder) has been cleared to play catch, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Belisario was originally given a two-week timetable in late-February when he sustained the injury in an accident off the field, and he appears to be heading in the right direction. Brough on as a non-roster invite, the ailment perhaps sets him back a bit in his quest to earn a roster spot for Opening Day.

Belisario suffered a fractured shoulder in a pre-camp accident and will be out for two weeks, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
The injury came in one of those random offseason accidents, this time with Belisario getting out of a pool. This further hurts the 32-year-old's chances to make the Rays' big league squad out of spring training, as he'll only have a couple weeks to show he can improve on his 5.56 ERA 2014 season while also dealing with a recovering shoulder. He'll likely start the season in Triple-A and could make the majors thanks to standard bullpen volatility, but he's not touching real fantasy stats anytime soon.

Belisario signed a minor league contract with the Rays on Saturday that includes an invite to spring training, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Reports earlier in the week suggested Belisario was on the verge of signing with Toronto, but that deal fell through and the right-hander will now join Tampa in hopes of earning a bullpen role in spring training. After being clobbered to the tune of a 5.56 ERA and 1.44 WHIP in 62 appearances with the White Sox last season, Belisario will need to show significant improvement to break camp with the big club.
Fri Jan 30 201512:21Belisario unlikely to sign with Blue Jays
Belisario is unlikely to sign with the Blue Jays, contrary to previous reports, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports.
You can't really blame for the Jays deciding to not sign a guy who hasn't registered a WHIP below 4 since 2012, so Belisario will move on and look for a spring training invite somewhere else.
Thu Jan 29 201514:37Belisario agreed to minor league deal with Blue Jays on Thursday
Belisario agreed to a minor league deal with the Blue Jays on Thursday, Jim Bowden of ESPN reports.
Belisario spent part of last season as the closer for the White Sox but struggled down the stretch and was eventually outrighted. The 31-year-old, who posted a 5.56 ERA last season, will look to make the team out of camp but could end up at Triple-A.

Belisario has elected to become a free agent rather than accept an assignment to the minors.
Belisario went from a closer role with the White Sox to being outrighted after a poor finish to the season. The 21-year-old finished with a 5.56 ERA and 1.45 WHIP while striking out fust 47 in 66.1 innings. He will try his hand in free agency, and could easily latch on to a bullpen elsewhere based on his past track record.
Thu Nov 20 201415:39The White Sox designated Belisario for assignment Thursday
The White Sox designated Belisario for assignment Thursday, Colleen Kane of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Belisario appeared in 62 games for the White Sox last season, but he posted a 5.56 ERA and 1.45 WHIP, so the club decided to remove him from the 40-man roster. It remains to be seen what his next step will be.
Fri Jun 27 201423:18Ronald Belisario removed as White Sox closer
White Sox manager Robin Ventura announced Friday that Ronald Belisario has been removed from his role as the team's closer.
It's not incredibly shocking news, as Belisario hasn't pitched well this season. The last straw apparently came in Friday's game where he surrendered two runs (one earned) on three hits while recording only one out against the Blue Jays. Jake Petricka came on and converted the save on Friday, and could be the man to own in the interim basis. Javy Guerra and Zach Putnam are also expected to be in the mix.

Tue Jun 24 201422:44Belisario escapes O's rally with eighth save
Ronald Belisario's struggles continued, but he escaped with his eighth save of the season in Tuesday's win over the Orioles.
Manager Robin Ventura gave Belisario a vote of confidence prior to the game, but allowed an inherited run to score on two hits before inducing a game-ending double-play for his eighth save in 12 chances. Belisario carries an ugly 5.35 ERA but it appears the ninth inning is still his for the time being.
