Sat Sep 5 201511:22Robinson released by Giants on Saturday
Robinson was released by the Giants on Saturday, NFL.com's Conor Orr reports.
A fourth-round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, Robinson boasts an impressive combination of strength and size, but he's only caught five passes in 19 career games. It appears Jerome Cunningham will make the final roster as the Giants' No. 3 tight end.

Robinson is likely battling Jerome Cunningham for the team's final tight end roster spot.
It looks like Larry Donnell and Daniel Fells will make the team, so it's either Cunningham or Robinson. Both are big and athletic, but neither is likely to get opportunities barring a cascade of injuries, and even then the team might look to a free agent if the position got thin.
Wed Sep 10 201404:48Robinson did not see single offensive snap Monday night
Robinson did not see a single offensive snap Monday night.
His athleticism and physical skills are great, but his football ones so far have been lacking. Larry Donnell has the job for the time being.

Robinson fumbled away his only reception in Thursday's preseason finale against the Patriots.
The Giants will likely go with a committee at tight end, and while Robinson has the most athletic ability of the bunch, he may not even make the roster. Based on how things transpired this preseason, even if he makes the team, Robinson probably won't see more than a handful of snaps in Week 1. Larry Donnell and Kellen Davis are the favorites to pile up snaps and targets, though there probably won't be many of the former for Big Blue's tight ends.
Tue Aug 26 201401:09Due to inconsistent play from team's tight ends
Due to inconsistent play from the team's tight ends, the Giants are going with a committee at the position, the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Robinson has the most talent, but he's raw as a route runner and blocker. Of course, the team might quickly scrap the committee as soon as someone distinguishes himself. So far that hasn't happened yet, however.

Robinson caught two passes for 59 yards on four targets in Saturday's preseason game against the Colts.
Although he saw all four of his targets in the second half, and did all of his damage on the Giants' final drive, Robinson may be able to work his way up from the No. 4 spot on the depth chart. The Giants once again started Larry Donnell, a slow-footed 2012 UDFA with no upside as a receiver. While the Giants don't figure to use their tight ends as a big part of the passing game, Robinson is the only player with enough potential to put any dent in that mindset. He also appears to be on the roster bubble, so there should be superior options available in the late rounds of most drafts.
Fri Aug 15 201401:11Robinson had strong showing Thursday
Robinson had a strong showing Thursday, his second day in a row with heavy reps on the first team, the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
He had been buried on the depth chart earlier in camp, but he's the only tight end on the roster with upside, and it's considerable, given his freakish size/speed (6-4, 264, 4.56 40) combo.

Robinson has one reception for nine yards and two total targets, one of which he dropped, over the team's two preseason games.
Robinson is also buried on the depth chart for now behind largely talentless journeymen. Robinson has the size and speed to be a significant factor, but he'll have to play better in camp to earn the chance.

Robinson did not work with the first-team offense in Sunday's Hall of Fame Game versus the Bills.
Larry Donnell got the start while Daniel Fells (knee) worked with the first-team offense in two-tight end sets. That Robinson didn't play until later in the game isn't all that surprising, as he was listed below Donnell, Fells and Xavier Grimble on the Giants' initial depth chart. That said, Robinson is the best athlete of the bunch, and seems to have the highest ceiling as a receiving threat. In all likelihood, the Giants won't make heavy use of their tight ends in the passing game, regardless of how this position battle plays out.
Thu Jul 24 201413:07Adrien Robinson listed as G-Men's No. 5 TE
Adrien Robinson is listed as the No. 5 tight end on the Giants' initial training camp depth chart.
Yikes. Blocker and special teamer Larry Donnell is listed as the No. 1. That should tell you this isn't a serious exercise, but it's painfully obvious Robinson failed to impress this offseason. At this point, it wouldn't be the most shocking thing if he was left off the 53-man roster. The G-Men are going to go with a committee at tight end. Robinson is highly unlikely to come into any fantasy value.

Tue Jul 22 201412:12Giants TE Robinson ballooned close to 290 lbs
Giants TE Adrien Robinson has shed 10-12 pounds and checked in at 276 heading into training camp.
That means Robinson ballooned up close to 290 pounds after an injury-riddled 2013 season. Robinson will get the first crack at the tight end job for the G-Men, but this is position that is likely to be filled by a committee. Robinson will work mostly as a pass catcher, while Kellen Davis and Daniel Fells mix in behind him.

Mon Jun 23 201412:37NYG GM: Tight end spot will be a committee
Giants GM Jerry Reese said the tight end position will "probably" be filled by committee.
Size/speed freak Adrien Robinson disappointingly failed to distinguish himself during the offseason program. "I think the jury is still out on who the No. 1 tight end is," Reese said. Robinson, Larry Donnell, Kellen Davis and Daniel Fells will all get chances to compete for various roles at training camp. It's looking like a fantasy black hole, especially with Victor Cruz, Rueben Randle and Odell Beckham dominating targets.

Thu Jun 19 201422:15Adrien Robinson not separating from pack
Giants TE Adrien Robinson has "failed to separate from the pack" at spring practices, where he's rotated with Daniel Fells, Larry Donnell, Xavier Grimble, and Kellen Davis.
"It's fully open right now to all five guys," said TEs coach Kevin Gilbride Jr., who wants Robinson to "develop his consistency," improve his "body control," and become a better "point-of-attack blocker." Per beat writer Jordan Raanan, Robinson did "flash a bit more," but "failed to blow away the competition." GM Jerry Reese may have to explore upgrading tight end before or during camp.

Thu Jun 5 201419:59Coughlin impressed with Robinson in OTAs
Giants coach Tom Coughlin has been impressed with TE Adrien Robinson in OTAs.
"I think (Robinson's) done a really good job, in terms of just learning again, not many mental errors," Coughlin said. Down to 270 pounds after ballooning to 285 last year, Robinson is attempting to lock down No. 1 duties. He's drawn consistently positive media reports since the G-Men reported for voluntary workouts.

Wed May 21 201411:35Adrien Robinson ballooned to 285 last year
Giants TE Adrien Robinson admitted to weighing 285 pounds last season.
Dedication to his craft has been an issue since the Giants drafted Robinson as a size/speed freak in the 2012 draft. But now that he's penciled in as the starting tight end, he says he's focused. Robinson is currently back down to 270 pounds, aiming to play at 265 this season and understands the depth chart. "They laid a huge opportunity in front of me. I just have to go take it, make the most of it," he said. Robinson projects as the No. 4 option in the passing game behind Victor Cruz, Rueben Randle and Odell Beckham.

Sun May 11 201411:08Robinson sits atop Giants TE depth chart
Adrien Robinson is penciled in as the Giants' starting tight end.
Tight end was a glaring hole on the Giants' roster heading into draft weekend, but GM Jerry Reese didn't draft a single player at the position. Robinson, a 2012 fourth-rounder, should get the first snaps at tight end this summer, barring a free-agent signing. (Jermichael Finley and Dustin Keller remain unsigned.) Robinson is a size-speed freak. New OC Ben McAdoo likes to feature the tight end.

Tue Feb 11 201413:31Adrien Robinson sees 2014 as his breakout
Giants third-year TE Adrien Robinson says he "definitely" sees 2014 as his breakout season.
"I hope so," Robinson said. "It has to be this year." Robinson has been dubbed the Jason Pierre-Paul of tight ends by some in the Giants organization due to his combination of size (6-foot-5, 269) and speed (4.56 forty). But he's been unable to stay healthy, and this summer might be Robinson's last to make an impression in New York. He currently sits atop the depth chart with Brandon Myers a free agent, but Robinson is going to have to go out and earn an offensive role.

Thu Jan 16 201411:51Adrien Robinson a beneficiary of McAdoo hire?
The Newark Star-Ledger names Adrien Robinson one of the main beneficiaries of Ben McAdoo's hiring as offensive coordinator of the Giants.
McAdoo coached the Packers tight ends from 2006-2011 and prefers big, athletic players at the position. Robinson fits that mold. He's 6-foot-5, 269 and ran a 4.56 forty at hid Pro Day before the 2012 draft. Robinson battled foot and knee injuries this past season. Brandon Myers is an impending free agent. Robinson should be given an opportunity to earn the starting job.

Mon Dec 23 201308:12Adrien Robinson headed for MRI on knee
Giants TE Adrien Robinson will have a Monday MRI on his knee.
While covering a kickoff, Robinson took a hit above his knee and had to be carted off. He watched the rest of the game on crutches, suggesting a potentially serious injury. Robinson, a fourth-round pick in 2012, is an intriguing candidate to start for the Giants in 2014 if he can get his health right. Brandon Myers is an impending free agent.
