Thu Jul 31 201422:18Tejada released by Marlins
Tejada has been released by the Marlins, Enrique Rojas of ESPN Deportes reports.
Now 40 years old, the former MVP had five hits in 14 at-bats for Double-A Jacksonville, but he hasn't played in a game since early June because of a shoulder injury. Tejada plans to play winter ball in his native Dominican Republic, but he obviously faces long odds to make it back to the major leagues.
Mon May 19 201409:45Marlins ink INF Miguel Tejada to minors deal
Marlins signed INF Miguel Tejada to a minor league contract.
The agreement was first reported last week by Enrique Rojas of ESPN Deportes and then confirmed Monday morning by CBS Sports' Jon Heyman. Tejada batted just .288/.317/.378 in 167 plate appearances last summer for the Royals before taking a 105-game suspension for a third positive amphetamines test. The 39-year-old still has games left to serve on that sentence and seems doubtful to make a positive impact in Miami.

Fri May 16 201413:51Marlins close to signing Miguel Tejada
ESPN Deportes' Enrique Rojas reports that the Marlins are close to signing Miguel Tejada to a minor league contract.
Tejada, 39, batted .288/.317/.378 last season for the Royals before he was injured and then suspended for testing positive for amphetamines. He still has to serve the final 64 games of his 105-game suspension. Tejada will give the Marlins some infield depth once the suspension is up.

Fri Dec 13 201322:13Miguel Tejada suspended from winter league
Miguel Tejada was suspended for the remainder of the Dominican winter league season on Friday after purchasing shares of a rival club.
Tejada was on the active roster for Aguilas Cibaenas, but bought into the Gigantes del Cibao franchise. The 39-year-old came did a nice job in 53 games with the Royals in 2013, slashing .288/.317/.378 before he was suspended for testing positive for amphetamines. If he latches on elsewhere, he'll have to sit out the first 64 games of the 2014 season.

Wed Aug 21 201315:20Tejada was not connected to Biogenesis
MLB released a statement Wednesday confirming that they found no violations by Miguel Tejada in connection with the Biogenesis investigation.
This is contrary to a report by ESPN's Pedro Gomez earlier this week. Either way, Tejada was recently handed a 105-game suspension for amphetamine use and will have to sit out the first 64 games next season before being eligible to return. It's possible we have seen the last of him in the majors.

Miguel Tejada will start his fourth consecutive game at second base on Tuesday.
Tejada again replaces Chris Getz, who is nursing a sore left knee. The 39-year-old is batting .284 with three homers and 15 RBIs over 116 at-bats and can be used in AL-only leagues when he's in the lineup.

Wed Jun 12 201317:44Miguel Tejada goes 2-for-2 off the bench
Miguel Tejada went 2-for-2 off the bench and scored the winning run for the Royals against the Tigers on Wednesday.
Tejada still isn't playing very much -- this was just his third appearance in June -- even though he's been one of the Royals' most productive players in his limited action. He's batting .333 with two homers in 51 at-bats for the season. Meanwhile, the guys ahead of him at second, third and short on the depth chart have all been terrible of late.

Fri May 24 201323:16Miguel Tejada goes deep in losing effort
Miguel Tejada smacked his second home run of the season in a losing effort against the Angels on Friday.
He finished the night 1-for-3. Surprisingly, Tejada has actually been a fairly useful plater in his limited at-bats, hitting .333/.375/.567 with a pair of homers and seven RBI in his first 32 at-bats. The 39-year old could even be fantasy relevant if he found his way into everyday at-bats.

Mon May 20 201323:40Miguel Tejada hits first homer since 2011
Miguel Tejada's first homer since July 16, 2011 was a three-run shot off the Astros' Dallas Keuchel on Monday.
Tejada has started just seven games this season, even though the Royals have gotten terrible production at third base, second base and first base. What's the harm in giving him an expanded role for a bit? For what it's worth, he's gone 9-for-27 with six RBI in his limited action.

Tejada didn't appear in the majors last season but is getting another shot with the Royals. He should see some starts at second base against lefties.

Fri Feb 15 201311:00Miguel Tejada late due to illness
Miguel Tejada has yet to report to Royals' camp due to illness.
Tejada was prepared to board a plane in his native Dominican Republic Thursday before falling ill. The Royals instructed him to stay at home and attempt to report to camp Saturday if he feels better. The illness won't affect Tejada's bid for an Opening Day roster spot.

Mon Dec 31 201219:38Report: Royals sign Tejada to $1.1M contract
Dave Skretta of the Associated Press reports that the Royals have signed free agent Miguel Tejada.
Skretta's source says the deal is worth $1.1 million. Tejada did not appear in the majors in 2012 and batted just .239/.270/.326 in 343 plate appearances with the Giants in 2011, so it seems odd that he was able to score a guaranteed contract valued at twice the MLB minimum. He'll presumably serve as a utility infielder for Kansas City.

Wed Dec 19 201210:47Marlins check in on Tejada, Polanco, Inge
ESPN.com's Jayson Stark reports that the Marlins have been "checking out" Miguel Tejada in the Dominican Winter League.
The Marlins are looking to acquire a third baseman with just Greg Dobbs and Kevin Kouzmanoff on their active roster. Tejada, 38, didn't appear at the major league level last season, but could be considered for a spring training invite. Stark adds that the Marlins have also "kicked the tires" on free agents Placido Polanco and Brandon Inge.

Fri Sep 28 201223:12Tejada to play in Dominican Winter League
Miguel Tejada will play with Aguilas Cibaenas of the Dominican Winter League.
Tejada was released by the Orioles at his request in June after batting .260 with four doubles, zero homers and a .617 OPS over 147 plate appearances with Triple-A Norfolk. It's not clear whether the 38-year-old will attempt to get a spring training invite somewhere.

Wed Jun 13 201211:13Tejada struggling with Triple-A Norfolk
Miguel Tejada is hitting .270 with a .625 OPS in 24 games with Triple-A Norfolk.
Tejada has just two extra-base hits (both doubles) in 99 plate appearances and is 2-for-20 over his last five games. The 38-year-old is hardly knocking on the door for a promotion to the big league roster.
