Tue Jul 28 201510:47Hayward (foot) has green light for start of training camp
Hayward (foot) has the green light for the start of training camp, Weston Hodkiewicz of the Green Bay Press Gazette reports.
A foot injury limited Hayward during the offseason program, but it was never believed to be an overly serious issue. With Tramon Williams off to Cleveland, Hayward is a heavy favorite to fill the starting cornerback spot across from Sam Shields. Damarious Randall and Quinten Rollins also figure to compete for snaps, but Randall will likely serve as the nickelback, and Rollins may just provide depth as a rookie.

Hayward said Thursday that he's been limited by a foot injury throughout the offseason, Rob Demovsky of ESPN reports.
The cornerback would not reveal whether he underwent offseason surgery, but he confirmed that he'll be ready for the start of training camp, so it doesn't look like a major concern for Green Bay.

Hayward tallied 43 tackles (33 solo), three interceptions, two fumble recoveries, and a defensive touchdown in 16 games during the 2014 season.
Hayward showed a nose for the football despite playing primarily in nickel and dime defenses during 2014. His role in 2015 will largely depend on whether or not the Packers bring back one or both of pending free agents -- and fellow cornerbacks -- Tramon Williams and Davon House.

Hayward tallied three tackles (all solo) and returned an interception for a touchdown in Sunday's victory over the Bears.
Hayward's interception was a bit of a gift from Bears quarterback Jay Cutler as the ball bounced off an offensive lineman's head, but it was his third pick in four games nonetheless.

Hayward was limited to special teams duty in Sunday's victory over the Jets, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Hayward opened the season as the Packers' third corner, but Davon House played over him Sunday. It's not clear if there has been a depth chart change, or if the Packers were just playing the matchups, but Hayward was shut out in the box score in Week 2.
Sun Aug 24 201413:30Hayward (hamstring) returned to practice Sunday
Hayward (hamstring) returned to practice Sunday, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Hayward hasn't featured since exiting Wednesday's practice early with a hamstring concern. While that time away included Friday's third preseason game, Hayward returns to practice Sunday, fortunately not missing too long. The talented cornerback missed all but three games of last season due to re-occurring hamstring troubles, so the Packers will be sure to afford Hayward any rest he requires to preserve his health this season.
Fri Aug 22 201419:02Hayward (hamstring) will not play in Friday's preseason game
Hayward (hamstring) will not play in Friday's preseason game, Fox Sports Wisconsin's Paul Imig reports.
He did not practice Thursday after exiting early from Wednesday's session, and the fact that he won't play Friday after what was labeled as a maintenance day Thursday, is certainly cause for concern. Hayward's talent has never been in question since he was drafted by Green Bay in 2012, but he was a non-factor last season due to injuries, and it would be a major hit to the Packers' secondary if he was limited again in 2014. Hopefully we'll see some progress in his status during next week's practices.
Thu Aug 21 201411:57Hayward (hamstring) did not practice Thursday
Hayward (hamstring) did not practice Thursday, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Hayward exited early from Wednesday's session as a precaution to ensure his previously bothersome hamstring didn't react to being overworked. The cornerback played just three games last season as a result of hamstring issues. However, as a rookie, Hayward excelled as the Packers' nickel cornerback, totaling 53 tackles (40 solo) and six interceptions. As such, Green Bay will do whatever is needed to keep Hayward healthy ahead of this season, making Thursday's day off for maintenance purposes. At the moment, it's unclear if Hayward will suit up for Friday's preseason game versus Oakland.
Thu May 29 201421:03Casey Hayward participating in OTAs
Packers CB Casey Hayward (hamstring) is participating in OTAs.
He will be all systems go for the regular season. Hayward was arguably the NFL's top rookie corner in 2012, before an injury-ruined sophomore campaign. He should man the slot between RCB Sam Shields and LCB Tramon Williams this year.

Wed Apr 9 201409:48Casey Hayward expects to be ready for OTAs
CB Casey Hayward (hamstring) expects to be ready for the beginning of the Packers' offseason program later this month.
Big things were expected of Hayward last season as he came off a spectacular rookie year, but his hamstring wouldn't cooperate. He appeared in just three games due to multiple aggravations and eventually landed on injured reserve in November. Getting Hayward back at 100 percent and adding Julius Peppers should lead to a bump in defensive effectiveness.

Fri Mar 14 201411:46Casey Hayward has resumed running
Packers CB Casey Hayward resumed running two weeks ago following his "slight" 2013 hamstring tear.
After an ROY-caliber rookie year in 2012, Hayward was essentially a non-factor as a sophomore, appearing in just three games with one start. His healthy return should provide a big boost to Green Bay's pass defense at slot corner. Look for Sam Shields and Tramon Williams to continue to man the perimeter.

Sun Oct 6 201311:40Casey Hayward leads Packers' Week 5 inactives
Packers declared CB Casey Hayward, RB James Starks, LB Nate Palmer, G/C Greg Van Roten, TE Brandon Bostick, DE Josh Boyd and DE C.J. Wilson inactive for Week 5 against the Lions.
Eddie Lacy (concussion) is active and carrying the load, though fellow rookie Johnathan Franklin should be in for a change-of-pace role after showing well in Lacy's absence in Week 3. Starks is week to week. He could be returning to the No. 3 perch of the depth chart if Franklin has another solid game Sunday.
