The Dallas Mavericks waived center Samuel Dalembert, forward Brandon Ashley, guard Tu Holloway and forward Jamil Wilson.Dalembert, who recently sustained an injury to his left leg, averaged 4.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in 12.8 minutes over four preseason games.In seven preseason games, Ashley averaged 1.1 points and 2.6 rebounds in 12.1 minutes.Wilson, who also appeared in all seven preseason contests, averaged 2.4 points and 1.6 rebounds in 17.5 minutes.Holloway did not play for Dallas in the preseason after signing on Thursday.

Dalembert did not practice Friday due to swelling in his left knee, Dwain Price of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

The issue doesn't appear to be anything serious, but it may be a byproduct of Dalembert showing up to camp out of shape. The veteran will compete with Zaza Pachulia and JaVale McGee for the starting center spot this season.

Dalembert was criticized by coach Rick Carlisle for his lack of conditioning, Tim MacMahon of ESPN reports.

Dalembert showing up to camp out of shape is not exactly unexpected, but it's a disappointing development for a player who has a chance to start at center for Dallas this season. After the Mavs lost out on DeAndre Jordan, they brought in Dalembert and Zaza Pachulia to solidify the position. Neither player inspires a ton of hope, but both players could have fantasy value, provided their respective minutes loads allow it.

This is probably a good move for Dallas, as their big man rotation seemed a little thin due to the DeAndre Jordam fiasco. The 34-year-old figures to back up Zaza Pachulia at center and receive somewhere in the neighborhood of 15 minutes per game.

The move out of, and back to, the starting lineup had no meaningful impact on Delambert's total workload. Friday represents a pretty standard stat line for Delambert - a bunch of rebounds, a block or two, and a single-digit scoring. While his per-minute production is excellent, his fantasy ceiling is pretty low. The 33-year-old is on his sixth team in six seasons, and not one of those six coaching staffs felt Delambert could handle more than about 25 minutes per game.

Dalembert will move back into the starting lineup at center Friday against the Hornets.

Although, he played his normal compliment of minutes Thursday, so his actual value may not take a hit.

Dalembert will come off the bench for Thursday's contest against the Cavaliers.

Dalembert will be replaced in the lineup by Quincy Acy, who will start at power forward while Amar'e Stoudemire will move to center. He could still see similar minutes to what he has been playing despite the move.
