The Giants have waived Wilson, nj.com reports.
Wilson, the Giants' 2012 first-round draft pick, saw his once-promising NFL career derailed by injuries and he's called it a career at the age of 23. Wilson thus finishes up his abbreviated stint with the Giants with 115 carries for 504 yards and five touchdowns, to go along with six receptions for 42 yards and a score.
Mon Aug 4 201419:49David Wilson: Released By Giants On Monday
Wilson was waived/injured by the Giants on Monday, Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News reports.
Wilson was advised to avoid playing football after suffering a "burner" during the first week of training camp, and the Giants subsequently jettisoned him Monday. Barring a miraculous turn of events, the running back's career is all but complete after one-plus seasons.

Wilson (neck) will be placed on IR by the Giants after being advised by doctors not to play football again, the team's official site reports.
There had been optimism that Wilson, the Giants' 2012 first-round draft choice, would be able to bounce back from the spinal fusion surgery he underwent in January, but a setback he suffered at practice last Tuesday led to Monday's unfortunate outcome. With Wilson no longer in the Giants' backfield mix, Rashad Jennings remains atop the team's depth chart, with Andre Williams, Peyton Hillis, Michael Cox and Kendall Gaskins also in the equation. In the wake of both Wilson's injury, and a strong effort in Sunday's preseason opener, Williams' fantasy stock appears on the rise.

Wilson (neck) will be "shut down" by the Giants' team doctors following their examination of his injury on Monday, ESPN reports.
Wilson continues to endure unfortunate developments surrounding his injured neck. Following spinal fusion surgery that cost Wilson 11 games last season, the running back suffered a "burner" during practice last week, which has put his future in considerable doubt. Although the Giants doctors have determined it's best to "shut down" Wilson, it's unclear whether that plan will be applied to the short or long term. Should it prove to be the latter time frame, Wilson could eventually be released via an injury settlement with the Giants; however, more information will be needed before Wilson's prognosis is clarified.

Though Wilson (neck) expressed optimism with regard to his neck injury Wednesday night, the Star-Ledger suggests that running back may be a long shot to return to the field.
Wilson, who is bouncing back from spinal fusion surgery, suffered what is being described as a "burner" during Tuesday's practice. In the wake of the setback, Wilson is slated to meet Monday with the doctor who performed his surgery in January, at which point we should get a better handle on the running back's actual prognosis. At this stage though, there appears to be legitimate concern that Wilson's upcoming medical exam may result in a less-than-favorable outcome.

Wilson (neck) tweeted that "everything turned out to be fine" and that he could see the field again after his five-day rest period and subsequent examination, the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
That Wilson is hopeful of a quick return doesn't mean he'll have one, but it's certainly better than the alternative. We'll know more next week, but it's a bad sign that Wilson already aggravated his neck injury without even being tackled.
Wed Jul 30 201419:25David Wilson tweets he is 'fine'
Giants RB David Wilson (neck) tweeted he passed all his physical examinations and was "fine."
Wilson left practice Tuesday after suffering a neck "burner." He will sit out the rest of the week before being reevaluated on August 4. Despite the clean bill of health, it is clear Wilson's neck will be a concern for the rest of his career. He is not worth a redraft pick.

Wilson (neck) will not practice the rest of the week and will be held out of the Giants' preseason opener against the Bills on Sunday, the Daily News reports.
Wilson, who suffered what was described as a "burner" on Tuesday, will subsequently be re-evaluated on Monday by Dr. Frank Camissa, who performed the running back's spinal fusion surgery in January. Wilson's comeback is thus on hold, at least for now, though at this stage it's too early to know if Tuesday's issue will end up being a minor or a major setback. In any case, the Giants are expected to proceed cautiously with the 2012 first-rounder.
Wed Jul 30 201410:01David WIlson (neck) to be reevaluated Aug. 4
David Wilson (neck) will sit out the rest of the week and be reevaluated on August 4.
Wilson left Tuesday's practice early with a neck burner. He underwent initial tests yesterday, and it's been determined that he won't play in Sunday's preseason opener versus the Bills. Wilson will be looked at on Mondya by Dr. Frank Cammisa, the doctor who performed Wilson's neck surgery. The Giants are going to be extremely careful here. We don't advise using a re-draft pick on Wilson.

David Wilson will undergo tests after suffering a neck "burner" in Tuesday's practice.
NFL Network's Kimberly Jones reports the Giants "will be careful" with Wilson, which is probably the understatement of the century. It's extremely bad news for Wilson to be having any issues with his surgically-repaired neck so shortly after being cleared. If you're drafting early, take a late-round flier on Wilson at your own risk.

Tue Jul 29 201415:18David Wilson exits practice with neck burner
David Wilson left Tuesday's training camp practice early with a neck burner.
A "burner" or "stinger" is an injury to the nerves in the neck or shoulder that produce a stinging sensation. Obviously, with Wilson, this is a major concern and not something to take lightly. Following practice, coach Tom Coughlin said "we were all praying" Wilson wouldn't suffer any setbacks. This qualifies as one. Recovery time can range, but WIlson won't be cleared to return until he's experiencing zero neck or shoulder pain. We'll update Wilson when the Giants do.

Sat Jul 26 201415:20David Wilson to be part of weekly gameplan
The Newark Star-Ledger expects David Wilson to be part of the Giants' weekly game plan as long as he remains healthy.
Wilson opened training camp as the second-team tailback behind Rashad Jennings, and has reportedly "looked explosive" in the receiving game. With the Giants moving to a West Coast offense, Wilson has an opportunity for a bigger role in the passing game in addition to change-of-pace duties. Rookie Andre Williams is expected to push Jennings for red-zone carries.

Wed Jul 23 201412:24David Wilson opens camp as 2nd-team RB
David Wilson opened Giants camp as the second-team tailback.
He was quickly installed directly behind Rashad Jennings, and ahead of Peyton Hills and rookie Andre Williams. Per the Giants' website, Wilson "looked dynamic as ever" in practice, "making cuts like his old self and still looks like one of the most athletic players on the field." Only 23, Wilson has mouth-watering god-given gifts but football-playing deficiencies have removed him from the equation to start. He'll likely be a change-of-pace back this season.

Thu Jul 17 201413:31Giants expect David Wilson to be cleared Mon.
Giants co-owner John Mara told reporters Thursday that the team expects David Wilson (neck) to be medically cleared for the season.
"We expect him to be playing," Mara said. "All signs are he'll be ready to go." Wilson's final pre-camp checkup is on Monday. ESPN's Dan Graziano reiterated on SportsCenter this afternoon that "signs point to David Wilson being cleared and joining that Giants' backfield." New York's backfield stable includes Rashad Jennings, Wilson, rookie Andre Williams, Peyton Hillis, Michael Cox, and Kendall Gaskins. Wilson is unlikely to accrue re-draft value this season, but the 23-year-old could be a drain on Jennings'.

Thu Jun 26 201413:50David Wilson's next medical check: July 21
David Wilson (neck) will next seek medical clearance on Monday, July 21.
Wilson initially sought clearance before minicamp. He didn't get it, but doctors still seemed upbeat about his chances of playing this year. Wilson handled "some reps" at spring practices, but needs clearance for contact work. If Wilson does get the green light, he'll be a change-of-pace back and kick returner.

Wed Jun 4 201415:22Giants team doc expects Wilson to be cleared
Giants team doctor Russell Warren said he anticipates David Wilson (neck) gaining full medical clearance when he is re-evaluated prior to the start of training camp.
"There has been significant progress and healing since David had the fusion," said Dr. Warren. "But the reality is it has only been four and one-half months since the surgery. We anticipate that when David is re-evaluated at the start of training camp he will be cleared at that point." Though it may be disappointing for Wilson that he wasn't cleared today, he insists "everything I got this morning was good news." The Giants open camp on July 21. Wilson will have his next meeting with the doctors probably a few days prior to that.
