A fractured right tibia, suffered late in spring training, kept Beltre off the field until late June, and his rehab assignment was then cut short due to an injury to his left leg. Surgery was needed to insert a rod into his left leg, which cut short his season and effectively ended his tenure with the Rangers. His health is a big question mark heading into spring training, but Beltre would be hard pressed to earn a roster spot even if completely healthy. The 25-year-old is a strong defender in center field hasn't hit at any level in the minors.

Beltre flung a trash can into the stands during a scuffle with fans in San Antonio, Texas after a home run was called back by umpires. The suspension could last for 10 days or longer. Beltre, 21, is batting .253/.286/.316 with zero homers, five RBI and three stolen bases in 18 games for Double-A Frisco this season.
