Pierce carried twice for six yards in Sunday's loss to Tampa Bay.
The news here is that T.J. Yeldon left Sunday's game with a groin injury, and if he ends up missing any time, Pierce could be thrust into action. With Denard Robinson (knee) still banged up, a Yeldon absence would likely result in Pierce and Toby Gerhart handling the bulk of the rushing workload in what has not been a productive ground attack this season.

Pierce could stick on the final roster, as the Jaguars may elect to keep five running backsESPN's Michael DiRocco reports.
With no fullback on the roster and a couple of running backs who contribute on special teams, the Jaguars can afford to keep extra bodies at the position. Pierce thus has a good chance to stick around, but he'll likely just be fourth on the depth chart. He gained 41 yards on two carries in Thursday's preseason game against the Redskins.

Pierce gained 14 yards on four carries and 10 yards on four receptions in Monday's preseason game against the Giants.
Unimpressive through two preseason games, Pierce probably won't have any real shot to make the final roster unless T.J. Yeldon, Toby Gerhart or Denard Robinson suffers an injury.
Thu Mar 19 201516:28The Jaguars claimed Pierce off waivers Thursday
The Jaguars claimed Pierce off waivers Thursday, Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun reports.
A third-round draft pick back in 2012, Pierce was recently released by the Ravens in the aftermath of a DUI arrest. He had a strong rookie season working behind Ray Rice, but then struggled in both 2013 and 2014. While Pierce doesn't offer much in terms of pass blocking, receiving or elusiveness, he does have a decent combination of size and speed. He'll likely have to compete for a roster spot, though he's fortunate to land with a team that doesn't have much talent at running back. If the DUI sticks, Pierce will eventually have to serve a mandatory two-game suspension.
Wed Mar 18 201514:58The Ravens have released Pierce
The Ravens have released Pierce, the Baltimore Sun reports.
The move follows the running back's arrest early Wednesday morning on DUI charges. The departure of Pierce, who carried 93 times for 366 yards and two touchdowns in 13 games for the Ravens this past season, leaves the team with a running back depth chart currently headed by starter Justin Forsett and second-year pro Lorenzo Taliaferro.
Wed Mar 18 201510:07Pierce arrested in Towson
Pierce was arrested in Towson, Md. early Wednesday morning for driving under the influence of alcohol, Jessica Anderson of the Baltimore Sun reports.
Pierce becomes the third Ravens player to be arrested just this offseason, following the since-released Terrence Cody and Victor Hampton. Pierce shouldn't be in line for a similar fate, but it's undoubtedly a black mark for a player whose stock within the organization was already falling. Though he had every opportunity to run away with the starting job last season following Ray Rice's release, Pierce amassed only 366 yards on 93 carries (3.9 YPC) and watched as Justin Forsett passed him up on the depth chart. With the Ravens re-signing Forsett on a three-year deal last week, Pierce will now have to battle with second-year player Lorenzo Taliaferro for No. 2 running back duties.

Pierce had 93 carries for 366 yards and two touchdowns, adding two receptions for 13 yards, during the 2014 regular season.
Pierce entered the year as a candidate to emerge as Baltimore's lead back, but it was Justin Forsett who ultimately filled that role. Forsett averaged 5.4 yards on 235 carries, while Pierce looked hopelessly lost much of the time, despite running behind an excellent offensive line. Though Forsett is set to become an unrestricted free agent, it will be surprising if Pierce is anything more than a backup in the final year of his rookie contract. If the Ravens can't retain Forsett, they'll likely look for outside help, or else turn the reigns over to 2014 fourth-round selection Lorenzo Taliaferro (foot). Pierce may need to compete for a roster spot.

Pierce had six carries for eight yards in Sunday's 20-10 win over the Browns.
Fitzgerald Toussaint, who got more work than Pierce in Week 16, finished with just eight yards on three touches (one reception). The Ravens have been remarkably inconsistent with the usage of their backup running backs this season, and Justin Forsett continues to serve as the workhorse. Pierce and Toussaint are thus unappealing options, even as dart throws in daily contests or playoff leagues.

Pierce (back) lost two yard on his only carry in Sunday's 25-13 loss to the Texans.
With Lorenzo Taliaferro (foot) out for the season, Pierce surprisingly got less work than Fitzgerald Toussaint, who finished with 31 yards on six touches (two receptions). The Ravens haven't been consistent with their running back usage behind Justin Forsett, so it's still possible that Pierce could operate as the top backup in Week 17.
Sun Dec 21 201411:42Pierce (back) listed as active for Sunday's game against Texans
Pierce (back) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Texans.
With Lorenzo Taliaferro on IR, Pierce, who logged six carries for 37 yards in Week 15's win over the Jaguars, will work as Justin Forsett's clear-cut top backup/complement down the stretch, an assignment that carries some utility in deeper leagues.
Fri Dec 19 201418:25Pierce (back) probable for Sunday's game against Texans
Pierce (back) is probable for Sunday's game against the Texans, the Ravens' official site reports.
Pierce, who logged six carries for 37 yards in Week 15's win over the Jaguars, is only a consideration in deeper leagues, though with Lorenzo Taliaferro on IR, he's Justin Forsett's clear-cut top backup down the stretch.
Thu Dec 18 201417:55Pierce (back) practiced fully Thursday
Pierce (back) practiced fully Thursday, the Ravens' official site reports.
Pierce was limited at practice Wednesday, but his full participation Thursday puts him on track to be available to work behind Justin Forsett on Sunday against the Texans.
Wed Dec 17 201418:42Pierce (back) limited at practice Wednesday
Pierce (back) was limited at practice Wednesday, the Baltimore Sun reports.
Pierce, who logged six carries for 37 yards in Sunday's win over the Jaguars, is only a consideration in deeper formats, though his status is of some import to the Ravens' backfield depth, behind Justin Forsett with Lorenzo Taliaferro on IR.

Pierce gained 37 yards on six carries in Sunday's 20-12 win over the Jaguars.
Pierce and Lorenzo Taliaferro (foot) have taken turns working as the top backup to Justin Forsett, and with Taliaferro unable to play in Sunday's game, the role fell into Pierce's lap. The former third-round draft pick didn't find many holes on his first five carries, but his final tote went for a 28-yard gain. If Taliaferro is able to return for Week 16 against the Texans, there's some chance Pierce will lose his limited role in the offense.

Pierce had seven carries for 28 yards and one reception for six yards in Monday's 34-27 win over the Saints.
Pierce worked as the No. 2 running back behind Justin Forsett, who rumbled for 182 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries. This marked the second consecutive game in which Pierce was clearly the top backup, as rookie Lorenzo Taliaferro didn't get any touches. While he hasn't been particularly impressive this season, Pierce will likely hold onto his role for Week 13 against the Chargers, though there's no guarantee that Taliaferro won't re-appear.

Pierce had eight carries for 31 yards in Sunday's 21-7 win over the Titans.
One week after Lorenzo Taliaferro lost a crucial fumble, Pierce worked as the primary backup to Justin Forsett, who finished with a 20-112-2 rushing line. Taliaferro did end up with three carries but didn't have any until the fourth quarter. Though he had the larger role Sunday, Pierce isn't assured of the same when the Ravens come out of a Week 11 bye. He's been the team's least impressive pure runner this season, and has never offered much in terms of receiving or pass blocking. On a more encouraging note, he could get some goal-line carries if he stays ahead of Taliaferro in the pecking order. No opportunities came up Sunday, as Forsett scored from 11 and nine yards out.
Sun Nov 2 201419:10Pierce active for Sunday night's game against Steelers
Pierce is active for Sunday night's game against the Steelers.
Pierce is active Sunday after being a healthy scratch last week against the Bengals, but we'd like to see him turn in a full and productive outing before recommending him as a fantasy lineup option.
Sun Oct 26 201411:37Pierce listed as inactive for Sunday's game against Bengals
Pierce is listed as inactive for Sunday's game against the Bengals.
With Pierce scratched Sunday, the Ravens' Week 8 backfield will be headed by Justin Forsett and Lorenzo Taliaferro.

Pierce had eight carries for 21 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 29-7 win over the Falcons.
Pierce scored a short touchdown for the second straight week, and he again got more work than Lorenzo Taliaferro, who managed just three yards on four carries. While Justin Forsett remains the clear top option for all other situations, the bulkier Pierce seems to be the Ravens' first choice for short-yardage spots. However, it's still not entirely clear, as the sample size has been limited by the team's propensity for longer scoring plays.

Pierce had 32 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries in Sunday's 48-17 win over Tampa Bay.
Nine of Pierce's carries came in the second half of a blowout, after Justin Forsett got most of the first half work on his way to a 14-111-0 rushing line. Rookie Lorenzo Taliaferro also chipped in, finishing with two carries for 29 yards and two receptions for 18 yards. Forsett remains the clear leader of Baltimore's three-headed backfield, but Sunday's performance was still encouraging for Pierce, as he easily out-touched Taliaferro, and also got the only goal-line carry.
