Mon Aug 31 201516:15Broyles waived by Lions on Monday
Broyles was waived by the Lions on Monday, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Broyles actually requested his release Saturday and the Lions obliged just a couple days afterwards in an attempt to cut down their roster. The wide receiver is now free to sign with another team, although he's only managed to record 10 total catches over the past two seasons and most likely will only provide depth wherever he ends up.

Broyles nabbed three passes for 31 yards in Thursday's preseason loss to Washington.
Broyles had more receptions and receiving yards during Thursday's game than the entire 2014 regular season combined. Broyles has struggled with injuries during his three years in the league and is no sure bet to make the team. Still, with the murkiness of Detroit's receiving depth chart behind Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate, Broyles can carve out a role for himself in the next two preseason contests.

Broyles is in the thick of the battle to back up Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Since being drafted in the second round of the 2012 draft, Broyles has seen injuries cut three consecutive seasons short, affording him just 32 combined receptions. Broyles considers himself a smarter player than he was after first entering the league, but without the experience of Lance Moore, preseason breakout of Greg Salas or versatility and upside of Jeremy Ross or Corey Fuller, Broyles may have a tough time making the team.

Broyles expects to play in Detroit's preseason opener on Thursday, Josh Katzenstein of The Detroit News reports.
Even though he's dealing with an undisclosed injury, Broyles finding his way onto the field should be considered a positive for the Lions. Since being drafted in the second round of the 2012 draft, Broyles has played just 21 games in three seasons, contributing a grand total of 32 catches and two touchdowns. Though listed on the third team on Detroit's unofficial depth chart, the Lions have no obvious No. 3 option behind Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate - a spot Broyles could eventually elevate to if he manages to stay healthy.
Thu Jan 29 201509:42Broyles likely down to final chance with Lions come 2015 season
Broyles is likely down to final chance with Lions come the 2015 season, the Detroit Free Press reports.
Though he was healthy for the first time in his career, Broyles appeared in just five games with only two catches for 25 yards. Lions GM Martin Mayhew made the point that Broyles will be a year removed from his ruptered Achilles tendon injury entering training camp so he may be a bit faster- which he will probably need to make the Lions roster for the 2015 season.

Broyles finished the regular seasons with two catches for 25 yards on five targets.
Broyles finished the season fifth on the depth chart, and he wasn't active for any games in November or December. He did make it through the season without a significant injury, after suffering major lower-body injuries in 2011, 2012 and 2013. Broyles has one year remaining on his rookie contract, but it's hard to imagine him making an impact in Detroit, as the team has no shortage of talented pass-catchers. Assuming he's makes it to training camp with the Lions, Broyles may need to stave off competition for a roster spot.

Broyles has been activated for Sunday's game against the Jets.
Broyles has been inactive for the Lions' first three games of this season, but will make his first appearance Sunday in light of tight end Joseph Fauria (ankle) being ruled out, thus resulting in Detroit requiring another pass-catcher on their roster.

Broyles is among the Lions' inactives for Sunday's game against the Panthers.
Broyles was also inactive for Detroit's season opener on Monday. With fellow wideout Kevin Ogletree another inactive, the Lions figure to use Corey Fuller and Jeremy Ross more on offensive.
Mon Sep 8 201417:48Broyles inactive for Monday's game against Giants
Broyles is inactive for Monday's game against the Giants, the Lions' official site reports.
As is fellow wideout Kevin Ogletree, with both players thus an injury or a break away from the fantasy radar.

Broyles will likely make the final roster, the Lions' official website reports.
Broyles could perhaps get some playing time in three and four-wide sets, but he currently appears to be either fifth or sixth on the depth chart. A breakout candidates in previous years, Broyles is finally healthy, yet finds himself far removed from fantasy relevance.

Broyles played with the second-team offense in Saturday's preseason opener against the Browns, finishing with three receptions for 27 yards on three targets, the Detroit News reports.
With Calvin Johnson held out, Kris Durham was used in two-wide sets, and Kevin Ogletree worked as the No. 3. Broyles seems to be either fifth or sixth in the wide receiver pecking order, but he could perhaps make a run at the No. 3 or 4 spots, as things seem to be fairly open behind Johnson and Golden Tate. Broyles suffered a ruptured Achilles' tendon in October, after suffering torn ACLs in 2011 and 2012.

Broyles (Achilles) reported no issues after two days of training camp, according to the Detroit Free Press.
Broyles' rehab has gone well all summer, but it's certainly a positive sign that his Achilles is holding up under increased stress.

Ryan Broyles has been working with a speed coach this summer.
Broyles is coming off two ACL tears and a torn Achilles' the past three years. The Detroit Free Press observed during the spring that Broyles didn't look as explosive as he did in college. That's to be expected. His explosion has been sapped by lower-body injuries. He still appears to be the favorite for No. 3 receiver duties, but isn't really on the fantasy radar outside of deeper PPR leagues.

Wed Jun 25 201420:56Broyles 'not as explosive' after injuries
According to the Detroit Free Press, third-year WR Ryan Broyles is "not as explosive" as he was before tearing both of his ACLs, and his Achilles'.
This is to be expected. Whether Broyles regains his college burst is totally up in the air, but beat writer Dave Birkett hints Broyles may still have the inside track on the Lions' No. 3 receiver job, ahead of Kris Durham and return man Jeremy Ross. Broyles' lead was strengthened following rookie T.J. Jones' shoulder surgery. Broyles is worth a look in particularly deep PPR leagues.

Wed Jun 11 201410:26Ryan Broyles says he's not limited at all
Ryan Broyles (Achilles') says he is not limited in any way.
Bryoles has torn both his ACLs and his Achilles' tendon since his senior year at Oklahoma. Still, he's remarkably fighting for a roster spot and has been participating in offseason work since April. We'll find out if Broyles' legs are NFL-ready once training camp rolls around.

Sun May 25 201417:20Lions WR Broyles closing in on full recovery
Lions WR Ryan Broyles (Achilles') is "closing in on a full recovery", and participated in OTAs this week.
He practiced at receiver and kickoff returner. "I'm getting right, man," Broyles insisted. "I really am." In training camp, Broyles will try to hold off rookie T.J. Jones to be Detroit's No. 3 receiver, behind Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate. Kevin Ogletree, Kris Durham, and Corey Fuller are also in the mix.

Mon May 5 201413:30Lions not throwing in towel on Ryan Broyles
Lions GM Martin Mayhew said at his pre-draft press conference that he hasn't thrown in the towel on third-year WR Ryan Broyles.
Broyles has torn his Achilles' tendon and both ACLs since his senior year at Oklahoma. He continues to prove a remarkable healer, participating in 2014 pre-draft workouts. "I believe in him," Mayhew insisted of Broyles. "I'm not going to build the whole offense around him, but I believe in that man." Broyles turned 26 last month. He has roughly WR6 value in deep Dynasty leagues.

Wed Apr 23 201422:23Ryan Broyles participating in workouts
Ryan Broyles (Achilles') is participating in Lions offseason workouts.
Broyles has torn both of his ACLs and his Achilles' tendon through just two seasons in the NFL. He indicated that he's feeling some pressure for his roster spot. "You feel like you have a deadline because there's guys counting on you," said Broyles. "I feel like I have to go in there and prove something and maybe I did that a little bit before my body was ready (last year)." The Lions won't be counting on Broyles for a major 2014 role, though those plans could change with a productive offseason. He's proven to be an amazingly quick healer.
