Thu Jan 30 201417:00Michael Young will retire
Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports that infielder Michael Young has chosen to retire rather than continue playing in 2014.
Young was considering suiting up for the 2014 season, preferably for the Dodgers, but chose spending time with his family over another grueling season. The 37-year-old will end his 14-year MLB career with a career .300 average and 2,375 hits.

Wed Jan 29 201420:59Dodgers trying to convince Young to be return
The Dodgers continue to try to convince Michael Young to hold off on retirement to be the team's second baseman, per Mark Saxon of ESPN Los Angeles.
The Dodgers signed Cuban infielder Alexander Guerrero to a four-year, $28 million contract in October to be the team's starting second baseman, but Saxon notes the team is wary of Guerrero's ability to field the position. The 37-year-old continues to weigh his options, but he recently intimated that he'd return to the Dodgers if he did decide to play next season.

Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times reports that Michael Young is still undecided on whether he'll retire or return for a 15th season.
According to Hernandez, Young noted that if he did decide to return that it's a "safe bet" it would be for the Dodgers. The 37-year-old infielder has had a terrific career, but he'll have minimal fantasy value in 2014 even if he does decide to return.

Wed Dec 18 201319:24Brewers interested in Young for 1B opening
The Brewers are showing interest in Michael Young for their first base opening, sources tell FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal.
The Brewers have also been linked to Ike Davis as they continue to search for a replacement for the departed Corey Hart. Young isn't a prototypical first baseman, but the Brewers don't project to go far this upcoming season and could just be looking for a stopgap for 2014 at this point. The Dodgers and Rockies are also still in the mix for the 37-year-old.

Mon Dec 16 201319:39Yankees interested in Young, Roberts
CBS Sports' Jon Heyman report that the Yankees are interested in Michael Young and Brian Roberts.
He also mentions Mark Reynolds, which he had reported on Sunday. It's unlikely that the Yanks would view Young or Roberts as legitimate full-time options at second base, but it's possible they could share the position with Kelly Johnson if the club is unable to land a bigger name at the position.

Sat Dec 14 201308:32Dodgers considering Young to play third base
Buster Olney of ESPN reports that the Dodgers are considering re-signing Michael Young to be their everyday third baseman.
Olney notes that it's looking increasingly likely that Juan Uribe signs elsewhere which has increased their desire to sign Young. They currently have Hanley Ramirez slated to play third, with Dee Gordon at shortstop and Alexander Guerrero at second base. Due to that uncertainty, it may be wise to re-up with the versatile Young. The 37-year-old hit .279/.335/.395 with eight homers and 46 RBI in 147 games between the Phillies and Dodgers in 2013.

Tue Dec 10 201318:19Report: Dodgers sniffing around INF Young
The Dodgers have expressed interest in free agent infielder Michael Young, according to Dylan Hernandez of the LA Times.
The Dodgers have Cuban import Alexander Guerrero and the inconsistent Dee Gordon penciled in as the starting middle infield, and the injury-prone Hanley Ramirez at third base, so a good utility player would be nice to have. Young's return would fit the bill. The 37-year-old hit .279/.335/.395 between the Phillies and Dodgers in 2013 while playing primarily third base.

Troy Renck of the Denver Post reports that the Rockies have expressed interest in free agent infielder Michael Young.

ESPN's Buster Olney hears Michael Young is drawing interest from four different teams.
Young's days of being a productive starter are probably over, but the 37-year-old can still be a useful bench player for someone. He hit .279/.335/.395 between the Phillies and Dodgers in 2013 while playing primarily at third base. The Orioles and Red Sox were said to be interested in the infielder earlier in the offseason, but it's unclear which four teams are currently in on Young.

Sun Sep 1 201300:29Michael Young to play 1B and 3B for Dodgers
Dodgers manager Don Mattingly told reporters late Saturday that Michael Young will see playing time between third base and first base.
Juan Uribe is going to remain the Dodgers' primary third baseman and Adrian Gonzalez is locked in as the starter at first base. Young, who was acquired on Saturday night from the Phillies in exchange for left-hander Rob Rasmussen, is going to provide corner infield depth. He takes a hit in fantasy value with the loss of everyday playing time.
