Esteban German signed with the Saitama Seibu Lions of Japan's Pacific League, according to Enrique Rojas of ESPN Deportes.
He'll earn $1 million in Japan. German, 33, appeared in just 11 games with the Rangers this past season, but was a surprise addition to the team's World Series roster. He became a free agent after being removed from the 40-man roster in November.

Esteban German will be on the roster for the ALDS against the Rays.
Andres Blanco, who was the backup infielder last year, will not be able to play due to lingering inflammation in his lower back. German only had 11 at-bats with the Rangers this season, but adds some some speed off the bench. Michael Young, who started at shortstop for the first time since 2008 earlier this week, will serve as the emergency backup to Elvis Andrus.

Rangers purchased the contract of INF/OF Esteban German from Triple-A Round Rock.
German, 33, has stolen 44 bases in 53 attempts at the Triple-A level this season to go along with a .301 batting average and .388 on-base percentage. The Rangers value his ability as a pinch-runner, which is why they included him on their postseason roster last year. He'll get an audition during September.

According to Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com, Esteban German will re-sign with the Rangers on a minor league deal.
The speedster became a free agent earlier this month after being outrighted to Triple-A Oklahoma City. German, who turns 33 in January, was on the Rangers' roster for the ALDS, but did not make an appearance. He has only appeared in 32 major league games since the start of the 2009 season and functions primarily as organizational depth.

The Rangers will go with 10 pitches and 15 position players. German essentially got the final spot on the roster over an extra reliever such as Clay Rapada or Michael Kirkman. The 32-year-old outfielder stole 50 bases with Triple-A Oklahoma City this season.
