HOUSTON (AP) — The Cleveland Indians have called up veteran outfielder Melky Cabrera from Triple-A Columbus.Cabrera was in the lineup for Sunday night's game against the Houston Astros, playing right field and batting sixth. The 33-year-old Cabrera agreed to a minor league contract with Cleveland in April. He took the loss in his Indians debut, a 7-6 defeat to the Yankees on Friday. The Indians also said that veteran righty Matt Belisle has elected free agency after being designated for assignment last week, while lefty Jeff Beliveau has accepted his assignment to Triple-A.___More AP baseball: https://apnews.com/tag/MLBbaseball
Sat May 5 201801:06Buehler, Dodgers' bullpen combine to no-hit Padres in Mexico
MONTERREY, Mexico (AP) — The Dodgers have the most no-hitters in the majors — and now the most in Mexico, too.Walker Buehler and a trio of Los Angeles relievers combined for the franchise's 23rd no-hitter in a 4-0 victory over the San Diego Padres in the opener of a neutral-site series Friday night.Mexico had waited since 1999 to host a regular-season major league game, and it got a historic one: the first no-hitter ever outside the U.S. or Canada and the 12th combined no-hitter in major league history.Buehler pitched six innings in his third major league start. The touted right-hander struck out eight and walked three over 93 pitches before handing off to left-hander Tony Cingrani, who walked two in the seventh but kept the bid intact.Yimi Garcia struck out two in a perfect eighth and Adam Liberatore threw a 1-2-3 ninth, striking out Franchy Cordero to end it with the Dodgers' 146th pitch.Joey Lucchesi (3-2) allowed three runs and five hits as the last-place Padres dropped to 11-22.ASTROS... He has a career 3.44 ERA over 471 1/3 innings in 247 games as a big-leaguer spent mostly with the Rangers.

RHP Alexi Ogando refused an outright assignment to the minors and elected to become a free agent on Nov. 6. Ogando, 32, went 3-1 with a 3.99 ERA in 64 relief appearances for Boston this year. He would have been eligible for arbitration if he remained on the 40-man roster this winter.

Ogando allowed one run on two hits in an inning in Wednesday night's loss to the White Sox. He's allowed runs in five of his last eight appearances.
Ogando had done some good work in the first half of the season, but the results haven't been good here in July. He's permitted nine runs on 10 hits, including five homers, in his last nine innings.

Ogando allowed two runs on one hit and one walk while striking out three in 2.1 innings in Sunday's loss to the Yankees.
Ogando pitched parts of three innings, getting his pitch count up beyond where it typically is. Manager John Farrell did not have Junichi Tazawa available after he threw 31 pitches Saturday, and he doesn't have confidence in other members of the bullpen, so he extended Ogando. When Farrell has kept Ogando in the three to four outs range, the reliever has been pretty effective.

Ogando got four outs, striking out one, in Tuesday night's win over the Blue Jays. He hasn't been touched for a run in 11 consecutive appearances, covering a span of 11.2 innings.
Ogando got the call in the high-leverage eighth inning, bridging to closer Koji Uehara, probably because Toronto has had success against usual setup man Junichi Tazawa. Ogando lowered his ERA to 2.88 with the outing, its lowest point since early April.

Ogando pitched a scoreless ninth inning in Monday night's loss to the Braves. It was his third consecutive scoreless outing after a stretch in which he allowed runs in three of four appearances.
Ogando's body of work this season is rather pedestrian -- 19 strikeouts, nine walks and a 3.67 ERA over 27 innings -- but he's the least of Boston's problems.

Ogando worked the eighth inning Tuesday night and picked up his third hold of the season with a scoreless inning.
This would normally be a spot for Junichi Tazawa, but not Tuesday. There's no indication that Ogando is replacing Tazawa as the primary set up man. It was probably a decision borne of Tazawa needing 29 pitches the night before in a lackluster appearance in which he allowed two walks, a hit, and an inherited runner to score.

Ogando allowed two inherited runners to score in Tuesday night's win over the Nationals. He allowed a hit while striking out two in 1.1 innings.
Ogando has followed up two clean relief innings with a couple of sketchy ones. The two inherited runs, charged to starter Justin Masterson, gave Washington a lead.

Ogando pitched a clean seventh inning in Friday night's win over the Yankees. That's two straight 1-2-3 innings for the right-hander.
Ogando induced several uncomfortable swings and has looked like his old self in two appearances. He and Junichi Tazawa set up the game for fill-in closer Edward Mujica, who promptly blew the save when he served up a ninth-inning homer. If Ogando continues to impress, he may move ahead of Mujica as Boston's fill-in when closer Koji Uehara is unavailable or if he gets injured.
Fri Apr 10 201507:51Ogando had fastball in 93-95 mph range
Ogando, who retired all three batters faced in Wednesday's loss to the Phillies, had his fastball in the 93-95 mph range, the Boston Globe reports.
Ogando has regained a good portion of his fastball velocity after an injury-marred 2014 season. It was an encouraging outing on a cold and damp night.
