Thu Feb 24 201111:46Omar Beltre undergoes spinal surgery
Omar Beltre underwent surgery Wednesday to repair stenosis of the spine.
Beltre came through the surgery "as well as could be hoped for," according to team officials. Assuming he feels comfortable, Beltre will fly to Surprise, Arizona this weekend to begin his rehab. Rangers assistant general manager Thad Levine said that his rehab will be "very much a work in progress" due to the unique nature of the procedure. The early timeline has him six to eight weeks away from any baseball activity, but that is obviously subject to change.

Omar Beltre is scheduled to have spine surgery next Tuesday.
It's unfair to speculate, but this doesn't sound good. As of now, a timeframe for his return is unknown. Beltre, 29, made two appearances with the Rangers last July, but spent most of the season with Triple-A Oklahoma City, posting a 2.65 ERA and 85/38 K/BB ratio over 85 innings.

Fri Nov 12 201009:53Rangers activate Omar Beltre from 60-day DL
Rangers recalled RHP Omar Beltre from the 60-day disabled list.
Beltre was aiming to join the Rangers as a September call-up this past year, but he injured his ankle during a late-season start at Triple-A Oklahoma City and sat out for the rest of the 2010 campaign. The 29-year-old righty finished with a 2.65 ERA and 1.26 WHIP over 85 innings at OKC.
Fri Sep 3 201015:12Rangers place Beltre on 60-day DL
Rangers recalled RHP Omar Beltre from Triple-A Oklahoma City and placed him on the 60-day disabled list
Beltre would have been a September callup, but he suffered an ankle injury in his start for Oklahoma City on Wednesday. So, the bad news here is that he won't get to audition for a spot on the 2011 roster. The good news is that he'll collect the major league salary and service time he would have earned this month anyway.
Tue Jul 6 201016:38Rangers send Beltre to minors
Rangers optioned RHP Omar Beltre to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Beltre gets the boot after giving up four runs over three innings in a loss to the Indians on Monday night. He failed to make it to the fifth inning in either of his two starts with the Rangers. He'll return to a 2.39 ERA over five starts and 10 relief appearances with Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Tue Jul 6 201000:07Beltre puts up a clunker against Tribe
Omar Beltre lasted just three innings Monday, giving up four runs in a loss to Cleveland.
He allowed four hits and walked three and needed 72 pitches to get through the three frames. Beltre's major league debut last week was forgettable, and this outing was even worse. We would expect him to be sent out soon, but if not he could start this weekend against the Orioles.
Thu Jul 1 201001:45Rangers' Beltre goes four in debut
Omar Beltre yielded three runs in four innings to the Angels in his major league debut Wednesday.
Beltre didn't get a chance to go for the win after throwing 85 pitches in four innings. The Rangers were up 4-3 at the time, but they turned the game over to Dustin Nippert, who ended up with the victory in relief. Beltre will likely return to Triple-A on Thursday.
Wed Jun 30 201020:05Rangers recall Omar Beltre from AAA OKC
Rangers recalled RHP Omar Beltre from Triple-A Oklahoma City.
The 28-year-old Beltre will make his major league debut on Wednesday night against the Angels. He had an impressive 2.39 ERA, 44/18 K/BB ratio and 1.35 WHIP in 37 2/3 innings (five starts) for Triple-A Oklahoma City, but the Dominican native can be avoided in most fantasy leagues.
Mon Jun 28 201017:13Rangers to call up RHP Beltre
The Rangers will call up right-hander Omar Beltre to make his major league debut on Wednesday.
Back in the U.S. after years of dealing with visa issues, Beltre has a 2.39 ERA and a 44/18 K/BB ratio in 37 2/3 innings for Triple-A Oklahoma City. It's an interesting move given the alternatives available in Oklahoma. Beltre has primary been used as a reliever and he missed a couple of weeks earlier this month. Maybe the Rangers are hoping to showcase him for a possible trade.
