Thu Jul 29 201018:38Marlins get Poveda, Reed for Jorge Cantu
Marlins acquired RHP Omar Poveda and RHP Evan Reed from the Rangers for infielder Jorge Cantu.
Poveda, 23 in September, has not thrown a pitch this season because he is still recovering from Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery. He had a 4.14 ERA, a 1.39 WHIP and a 73/48 K/BB ratio in 130-plus innings at Double-A Frisco in 2009. Maybe recovering from the elbow surgery will help him develop better velocity and control as it has other young pitchers.
